Honestly the 911 definitely speaks to my heart and a manual transmission is a MAJOR + for me. I certainly agree that this scenario requires keeping the truck, the Avant gives me more of an argument to replace the truck, but agree that the first messy beach trip / home depot trip would kill me...
I grew up with a Buick Road Master sation wagon and we drove from the FL Keys to New York every year in it and once to Washington (the state). This is a lot of the reason I want a station wagon! They are incredibly pratical for the fam.
I have nicknamed the RS6 the 'Dad Wagon' in my household.
I want fast / silly / practical-ish / smiles per mile. Raptor 37 PP has checked a lot of boxes, but the R is going to check the fast box more confidently.
I have a 37 PP that I love, but you're right in that I don't NEED an off road vehicle... but have really enjoyed the capabilities of my truck and especially during snow season in the mountains. My understanding is that an RS6 with snow tires will be pretty lethal in the snow, but of course not...
I don't have my gen 2 anymore, but have and love my '21 gen 3 PP. I haven't driven an RS6, but I'm pretty infatuated with the power/wide-body/practicality of it. The R upgrade was predicted on me selling the gen 3, but maybe keeping my 37 and jumping for the RS6 would be the ultimate outcome but...
I placed a 7.18.22 R order and was 3rd on my dealer's list, with 2 delivered to-date (they only rec'd 2 allocations for '23).
As I've waited for the last year, I've thought a lot about trying to pick the car I would actually buy at a reasonable R ADM price.
Not knocking people who jumped for...
Contributing these images - more of the same truck, but parked.
Personally, I like the updates, but understand from every Gen change / refresh there are many for & against (i.e recall a lot of negative reactions when the gen 3 was scoped out from the 'legacy gen 2s' group).
I'm priority 10 finally on my 10k ADM R order that I placed in July, hopefully it hits this year. It looks like I may have an MSRP R lined up in the next month or so - between these two Ive hopefully avoided the crazy markups, but it took a lot of time and patience.
So, I had two developments come out of all of this. A dealer I made a relationship with has slotted me in for an MSRP Raptor R that they expect to receive an allocation for (they have 0 customer builds). This was a guy who reached out to me who helped me with my original Raptor purchase in '18...
Based on your track record and the truck you sold, I literally believe 100% of this.
If you decide to act on it, I'll fly out for a week and subsidize your bourbon/beer bill
