What do you mean by eccentric arc? Trying to understand the issue. Seems like longer shackles would be almost necessary with the higher arc of the spring and longer flattened length.
Now I can see the issue of losing droop since you are shoving the spring up, potentially pushing some of the...
Just used this write up to do mine. Thank you for putting it together. I really appreciated the part about how insanely hard it is drive the joints out AND in. Impact was useless. Ratchet, cheater bar, and suffering was the only way to get it done.
My combo is Fiberwerx + Fox 3.0 + flattened pinch weld + 0 offset wheels + 37 Baja Boss tires. No rubbing. Not sure if that helps, but its some info for you.
These are the big points I was wondering about. I had no idea that the 1 piece Gen 2 style front end only existed as a conversion from McNeil. Go figure.
From the two threads I have gathered that the Gen 1 requires cutting into the firewall and that is likely true even with mid travel. The...
Not sure I am hearing what you're hearing, but I did the exact same thing you did. Lower shock bolts installed with a good impact (IR 2135TiMax) and assumed it was tight enough. It should have been more than enough. Had clunking noise after install. Went back and torqued correctly with a 3/4...
Anyone have any insight into how they are making 40s work? Does their mid travel push the spindles further forward? Pretty sure I’d lose half my firewall and kick the headlights out if I tried to run tires that big. Does the gen 2 just have way more clearance?
Thanks, I appreciate it! Emailed Casey at RPG today and he suggested they only need modification once you get into the RST18 (I assume this is true with any bypass rack system). The reason I went with the 4.5s and shackles is to eventually get into a bypass rack, so I'd like to see what people...
Hey, so I installed my extended brake lines to go with the 4.5 deavers and 2" extended shackles, but now my wheel speed sensor and diff lock wires are tight at full droop. Do people extend these or am I missing something?
Perfect. Glad to hear it. In the meantime I did a little work on the press to make sure everything was seated correctly on the shackles. There was a little room to get the bushings flush with the sleeve. At the end of the day, the sleeves and bushings are flush and the whole mess is 0.050 wider...
Hey everyone,
My extended shackles seem very tight in the hangers. Like dead-blow-hammer-to-install tight. I don't think the brand matters for the discussion. Don't want to call anyone's quality into question until I understand the problem better. Maybe this is the way they all are?
I'm...
Nice work. This is awesome!!
Can you post some pics of the mounting for the flip front? I'd like to do the same 1 piece conversion, but I haven't seen how people mount them yet. What support did you add under the hood? Very cool project.
Good advice in this thread. '12 Eastern Canada truck that lived by the ocean all its life without undercoat (prior to me owning). I replaced my bed because of rust (and rockers). My situation is likely as bad as it could possibly get. I PB'd all of the bolts from underneath the day before...
