Oh, interesting. Did you use the large grommet or the smaller one down to the right of it? I'm thinking I may drill a new hole, add a grommet and seal it. It looks easy enough to get to through the fender well and allows the hole to be below the heater fan but still up under the dash.
Thanks, guys. This is a gen 3, but I'll take a look. The under hood portion is tough and, to make matters worse, I need to get the Switch Pros bundle through there (4x 14ga/16ga), a couple of power leads for a 110w radio (2x12ga? and 1x16ga), and 14ga for chase light. What's that, 8...
Has anyone tried to remove the plastic box that holds the in-cabin air filter on a Gen 3? Trying to run radio and other wiring from the engine compartment to the cabin and getting through the grommet on the pass side firewall is a bi*. Other suggestions welcome...I need to get 4x 12 gauge...
I realize this is an old thread, even your most recent post, but I'm wondering what length of track you used and if it just fit or you had to cut it to fit. Also, no way to use the rear seat mounts for the track back there? It looks like you drilled new holes to mount the rear tracks, right...
Even with all of these issues, this upgrade is still compelling. Has anyone tried to run Backcountry Navigator or other offroad navigation apps on this thing? If so, did it work well and were you able to download and use .gpx files?
Who thinks a version with the updated hardware (px6?) is...
I'm kicking myself for not taking pictures and/or video, as I struggled to CONFIDENTLY determine how to do this before I got started on my install too. Important to note that I have no experience or skills running cabling inside of a vehicle...but this wasn't too bad.
My first recommendation...
Did you find any help with this? I installed the GJ Motorsports 3rd brake light mount w/ lights on mine. I have no real skills/experience running wire or modding the interior, so I was a little timid. Here's what I can tell you...it's very easy. Here are a few tips I think are...
I've only hit the dirt road between Tortilla Flats and Roosevelt, with a pit stop up to the Reavis Trailhead. Not real offroading, just rough dirt roads to finally get some dirt on it (bought it in August).
Anyone have a favorites? A little bit of speed and fishtailing without too much...
Has anyone installed this yet? I'm wondering if you have to full drop the headliner to run the antenna cable or if it's relatively simple to snake over and down one of the pillars. I'm planning to install the radio in the console...anyone done that? Pics or video?
Have there been any issues with the holes/aluminum where the mount attaches to the truck? I'm just wondering if the added weight of the S2 lights and any torque from the antenna (wind, hitting trees, etc) will cause any issues.
Any reason you can't pull power directly from the mirror instead of running a new wire and separate fuse? My understanding (haven't pulled the cover yet) is that there is ample power to the rearview mirror...for auto-dimming, I've assumed.
Thanks...good thread and I appreciate the help.
How did you all route the antenna cable to get it into the center console? I'm looking at that (expensive) 3rd tail light antenna mount and would like to hide away the radio in the console. Just not sure the easiest route to get in there.
Also, how is the range on the handheld unit with...
