I think that the most important factor is the air pressure in your tires. If you are willing to drop it down to 20 psi or so you can get through most anything as long as you keep moving. In the Imperial Sand Dunes I'll run this and I usually have little problem getting around (and that's in a...
Amazon.com: ARB E-Z Tire Deflator: Automotive
ARB Tire gauge & deflator
I give this 5 stars, even though I had one bad experience after a year of solid use (explained below).
You screw it on, and then counterscrew a piece to remove the valve stem (now safely held inside the tire gauge so you...
You're right about the speed limit. I can't say what it is along the entire route, but it is most definitely 25 mph in places. I'll admit that I'm very liberal when it comes to the speed limit there and have never had any trouble, but that's just my experience.
Man I've been slacking on this site. I'd love to make this but I don't know if I can because I work that Sunday night (and I have to drive back to Yuma for that).
Maybe some other time. At some point we should plan a Camino Del Diablo meet up. I drive that all the time so planning won't be hard.
That's obviously a prototype- not an actual 'Border Patrol" vehicle. It is still in development by the company and thus they need to impress the government. Basically it's for show at this point.
If everything pans out then the real production models that will be used will only have either...
Thanks for the link. If I do go with bead locks I'll give them a try. I'm hoping that someone has tried or knows someone who has tried these on a prerunner so I can get a idea of whether they'd be a good idea or not.
Spyderlock beadlock home
Does anybody have any experience with these beadlock wheels?
I am considering them because they claim that their wheels really can balance with 'internal sticky' weights, but I don't know if they'd be suitable for a Raptor (most of the vehicles on site are Jeeps...
I'm not saying that these guys are trying to fool people on purpose, but they have to take responsibility for their website and it's contents. It would be like me putting out a Craigslist ad for my pre-runnered FX4, yet putting up a picture of a Raptor. Disclaimer paragraph or not it's not right.
I have 28,000 miles on my truck- daily driving and off-roading an no issues. I had one incident when I first got it when the windows wouldn't roll down. After I turned the truck off and on again they worked fine and it's never happened again (I wrote it off as "noone's perfect/sh*t happens).
I...
Not to keep piling on Whistler but I got my Raptor (everything except nav package and graphics) for 43k. I had made up my mind to only do a retail order (the 4 month wait sucked), but it scored me the great deal.
Ripsaw tank - YouTube
The Ripsaw 'tank'- this is what I thought of when I saw your post. I know what you're talking about and I like the idea of a more off-road capable trailer. I've seen a few, like those smaller two-wheel trailers, but none is quite what I need or want yet.
Speaking of...
