The suspension upgrade alone makes the Gen 3 very attractive. More travel all the way around and coil sprung rear Gen3>Gen2. The exterior lines will grow on you.

They wear like iron, winter traction is amazing. Still heavy SOB’s so you take a hit on acceleration and more noticeably on braking. I’m mostly a desert guy so once I’m sick of them (doubt I’ll wear them out before then) I’ll be changing to something lighter.

In stock orientation you’ll only be able to access one of the shocks while it’s still mounted. When I rebuilt and added Schrader valves I had to to spin one shock

Awesome, have fun! Something to be aware of is that Ocotillo Wells has some fairly decent whoop sections, I would recommend taking the washes to get there. Cut Across Trail heading East is extremely rough and slow going.
