Does anyone return phone calls, emails or PMs at ICON?

I'll rattle some cages and get this handled

    Rear driveshaft extension

There is additional droop but its not significant enough to affect drive line. The biggest factor in the arc the axle follows and thus the amount the drive line plunges is in the spring. An OE spring that is flatter and uses a block is different then an arched spring that eliminates the block...

    Guys with icons ?

NTM: Good info! Braking bumps are always hard to sort out. I don’t think the truck and especially the steering is tough enough to be subjected to too much of that in general. Features are features, tuning is subjective and a preference. We have the most features so finding what...

    Guys with icons ?

I just looked at what I posted again. My grammar and punctuation is horrible today. I must have drunk too much shock oil last night. Sorry if it is confusing or hard to read. Somebody should check me before they let me in here.

    Guys with icons ?

This really is a great thread. Thank you to everyone for being inquisitive and to the point. A few of you have been discussing body roll and spring rates. There are a couple of additional factors that influence roll. CG height vs. Roll center: When the vehicle gets taller the CG is...

I got my Icon bump stops installed

The Raptor frame has a couple of issues that make it difficult to work with. The outside is formed for spring clearance and has very few flat surfaces to work with. Because its boxed gaining access to the inside to securely bolt to and distribute force is difficult. The bigger issue is that...

ICON Ford Raptor Hydraulic Bumpstop Testing + Tuning

The compression ratio for a shock is kept as low as possible and usual way less than 2:1. The hydraulic bumpstop has a compression ratio from 8:1 for light apps and can go to theoretically infinity. For the raptor its 14:1. We can approximate the pressure to roughly double every time half the...

ICON Ford Raptor Hydraulic Bumpstop Testing + Tuning

The bumpstops are hydraulic and nitrogen (air). I know the common nomenclature is misleading. Technically they are hydro-pneumatic bump shocks but if we refer to them as such then they would never pop up on the Google searches. The rebound rate is the hardest and most important part of the...

    Hydraulic bump-stops..

Aside from the fact that you have amazing luck???????? The repair we did is stronger now than it ever was. I don't think you need to do anything. The shock mounts don't always need to be clearanced and when they do it is a clearance as needed situation. "As needed" is a little vague and...

    Hydraulic bump-stops..

Yes Energy = Force X Distance If we simply dropped a truck from 10 ft we could take the potential energy of the mass of the truck at that height and equate it to (force X the travel of the suspension) for it to land and dissipate the energy. But because we are in a more dynamic and...

    Hydraulic bump-stops..

Not necessarily. Pressure IS a means to tune a bump but if too far from where the piston tuning and oil volume were meant to operate it could be a problem. The important point is that there is more to dissipating the energy then PSI and body diameter.

    Hydraulic bump-stops..

This dyno graph shows some of the characteristics of an air bump. The blue line is very slow so the hydraulic part is not influencing it very much and the shape is very close to just an air spring The red line is at 10 inches per second and shows the hydraulic effect add additional force...

    Hydraulic bump-stops..

An air bump is hybrid of a shock and an air spring. They can have some very odd characteristics however due to the fact that they are emulsion (gas and oil not separated), they are not connected to the axle, and the current impact partially depends on the previous impact(non linear). As an...

    shocking shock discussion

Our truck has stock rear springs. Until right before TRR it also had stock rear bump stops. I did however make a one-off gusset that went under the factory bump stop and on the inside of the frame when I first got the truck to prevent frame damage. I am in the process of designing a...
