It's only because of the start stop feature and once it's disabled you're good to go with the Kicker sub. I installed all Kicker speakers including the powered sub on my 17 with the 802A pkg in Jan of 2017 and I didn't have any issues because I'm running MPT tunes with the start stop feature...
