Loved my 2019 Raptor (obviously, since I still check out this forum) but towing was a dismal experience. Had a 16 ft enclosed two place snowmobile trailer. Towed 380 miles each way to the upper peninsula of Michigan. If I tried to go faster than 65, was always in the turbos, with the numbers...
What you are describing happened to me whenever I would tow my two snowmobiles in my enclosed trailer (3,600 pounds total). Would happen even in 20 degree weather. 2019 stock Raptor. Never needed phasers replaced.
Truck is totally stock. No obstructions. Shutters were open when I remote started the vehicle yesterday. Temperature gauge has never turned red but I thought it was odd that the numbers started showing up above the coolant temperature gauge. Especially odd since I was towing well below the tow...
Something else the original poster should consider is the low GVWR of the Raptor. If he has the truck loaded up with four good size guys and 400 pounds of tongue weight, the Raptor is probably overloaded.
Don't get me wrong- I love my Raptor but I think Ford is being very optimistic with the...
Yes, I was using tow/haul mode the entire time. When I see coolant temps rising to 230 and I'm only going 70 mph, towing no more than 3600 pounds in 18 degree weather, it makes me question how much our Raptors were really designed for towing, as well as the decisions of the Ford engineers...
Thank you very much RamseyF and blwn for the responses. I’m going to try locking out the gears as the truck was definitely hunting a lot and the turbos were always working hard. I don’t understand why Ford lets these trucks run so hot (closing shutters until temps get really hot…..). It seems...
I was about to post a new thread and then found this one. I towed my two snowmobiles to the UP and back (800 miles total) in a two place enclosed inline v-nose Neo this past week for the first time with my Gen 2. My thoughts:
Suspension sagged a little bit. No big deal. Trailer, sleds and...
The dealership sort of took care of it for me. My insurance paid for the wheels and tires ($11,500 repair bill) but the dealership absorbed my $1,000 deductible, as well as the $400 or so in betterment I was supposed to pay for the new tires.
I think gr8scott_0, whose post I was originally...
I'm fortunate that the Raptor is a third vehicle for us, plus we work from home so it hasn't moved in a couple days anyway. I don't mind it sitting at thier lot for a few days.
Here’s what happened to my Raptor while sitting at the dealer waiting for parts……
Any repeating issues after the replacement? My Raptor was at the dealership for the past two months for a transmission overheating issue and they eventually replaced the transmission (2019 with 28,000 miles on truck). All seems well now and the truck was pretty trouble free prior to this...
Update: Dealer replaced the transmission cooler and cooler lines and it seems to have solved the issue. I’ve driven approximately 250 miles on the highway and the transmission hasn’t gotten hotter than 194 and is usually at 190 or 188. Time will tell but right now I’m pleased and loving my...
