I will try to find another GEN3 in my area with updated parts. What gets me though is mine is actually worse now than before I took it in for the front strut replacement.
Thanks for the update. My dealer won’t do anything about the rear at this time. Since your fronts are 90% better, I’m going to do some work myself on mine. I haven’t even bothered to check things myself since the SSM was straightforward about replacing struts but maybe the dealer left something...
Since I work for an automotive dealer I 100% agree this is on Ford. I understand why this is not a recall but a proper bulletin should be provided instead of the SSM. The dealer can only do so much without the backing from the manufacturer. I will say some dealers take a few extra steps than...
Yea. I had mine in last week. They said they confirmed that the part numbers were the correct or updated parts and they couldn’t hear any clunking. I went for a test drive with the manager after they had looked at my truck and for some reason it seems that once the truck has been lifted off of...
T The noise is difficult to get on video directly, at least the front is. I posted some videos awhile back of my truck with chassis ears and it is easily heard.
@Jdselig Could you check the part number on one of your struts to see if it matches what is on your work order? The number is on the bottom side of the perch.
I wish Ford would have said in the bulletin which part number to use. But either way, my invoice has one part number while the part has another number, which looks to be an older number. That explains why mine still clunks in the front.
I found something interesting just a moment ago. The part numbers on my new front struts don’t match the part numbers on my invoice. Also, if I Google the part numbers from my invoice, the parts catalogs show that those numbers replace the part numbers that are currently installed on my truck.
I had enough trouble getting my fronts replaced, now one of those new ones is making noise. I know I’ll have an even tougher time getting that one replaced again. I’m still trying to get the dealer to replace the rears as well. I guess as long as people are placing orders for these trucks, Ford...
Update on my front noise/clunk. After driving 100 miles or so, the right front seems like it is still clunking. The left side does seem to be quieter now. The clunk doesn’t occur on the same bumps as it used to, and it’s not as bad as before, but I’m definitely hearing more noise from the right...
Well I’m halfway there. Front struts are replaced and the front feels much firmer. I’m still getting the noise from the rear so I will have to make another appointment. Here is the work order with part numbers for the front struts for a 37 package. *I spoke too soon. I had both fronts replaced...
