I wanted to follow up on my original post regarding the "fix" to update everyone.
TL;DR: To do it all over again, I don't think I'd mention the cam phaser TSB when I having the inspection done and just live with the 15 seconds of noise.
So, my local dealer (where I bought the truck) started...
Whoa!? Remove the cab from the frame? Yikes.
My "small town" dealership here knew about the fix straight away and commented, just as you say, that it was a common issue for "this engine." Which I took to mean all EcoBoost V6TTs.
Mine was very subtle as well and went away after about 10 seconds of idle time. It sounded nothing like some of the more pronounced sound I'd heard in other clips. Right or wrong, I wouldn't have taken it in for that solely, but as I had it in the shop anyway I figured why not mention it.
My yearly state inspection was due up this month, so I decided to take the truck (2018) in to have it done, get the oil changed, fix an inoperable sunroof, and I figured I'd mention the subtle rattle on cold startup to the service advisor.
Honestly, I'd listened to some of the other videos...
