First time I had to use mine was when towing my father in-law's old airstream and the damn thing locked up and wouldn't turn b/c the threads were messed up. I mean it's got one frickin job to do and it can't lift a 1,500lb trailer, exchanged it for a new one at the dealer and TESTED it before...
I had the valve cover replaced on my 2018 earlier this year and sadly it looks like I'm down over a quart 2,000 miles later. Back to the dealer for another go around.
If you change the coolant type, be sure to flush the system. I read that adding green and orange coolant together can result in some reaction that causes the coolant to form think gel-like crap that will clog the radiator.
Yeah, west coast shipping rates are ridiculous... looked at getting a new rear fender flare that is scratched and although the part was $285, shipping was nearly $250.
My 2018 does a similar random electrical high pitched squealing sound (sound like R2D2 - StarWars but higher pitch) with and without my key anywhere near by. I've heard it hours and days after I last used it and come from lower drivers side engine bay. Sounds like a solenoid activating, but...
Tasca is saying these only come primed. Can anyone confirm if I'll need to have them painted to match the factory fender flare stock dark gray? Not looking to body match the color, just want the stock fender flare color...
I'm a fan of complaining of vague transmission and engine issues (sporadic delayed/hard shifts, sporadic rough idle, etc) while still under the factory warranty. The "sporadic" is key b/c they will inspect and attempt to replicate but won't fix anything and it is then a permanent record that...
My understanding is the single does not pull a vacuum at wide open throttle, the dual has a pick up line on the intake side of the throttle plate that will create a vacuum at WOT. Unless you're racing or constantly beating the hell out of your truck a single is fine. I personally didn't want...
I have the JLT catch can installed but surprised when it wasn't full yet the dealer confirmed that it lost 1.5 quarts in 3k miles (getting the valve covers replaced under warranty). Question, where is the oil going if its not being caught in the catch can? Is it a poor design by JLT?
Typically a dual can separator has a vacuum pick up before and after the the throttle body so it can pull crankcase vapors from idle to WOT. That’s the only difference to my limited knowledge.
Since I haven't seen any excess oil in the air/oil separator catch can I have installed, is the valve cover PVC valve a secondary PVC that vents at WOT or heavy accelleration?
Just got back from the dealer this morning and I'm scheduled to get the valve cover replaced on my 2018 once the parts come in. Tech said it lost 1.5 qts in 3k miles. I have the JDT air/oil separator installed that only gets half full after 4k miles, but guess the PCV valve in question is...
I run in to the same with most older parking garages in the San Francisco bay area. I avoid anything that isn't at least 6'10" or higher just b/c they might have new asphalt, low hanging fire sprinklers, and inclines where the long wheelbase may result in the truck actually sitting higher. At...
