Did you ever try anything? My truck was showing 235°-240° pulling 2 waverunners at 75mph. The ambient temp was 98° and elevation around 1200ft. Without pulling a trailer I am seeing temps up to 225°.

If you installed the turbosmart BOV make sure that the CEL eliminator is making contact. Mine did not even cut through the wire cover. I had to solder mine.
My gen1 had a clunk like you describe after I went to top perch, and it ended up being the lower shock bolt. Tightened it up and it went away. If I remember right it was only like a 1/4 turn and that made the difference.
The stock shocks do not have a schrader valve. If it is like the front you can install a valve. The front shocks call for 200psi of nitrogen not sure on the back. You might check with SVC they send out schrader valves with the CAS front kit. They might have them available for the rear.
