We are proud to announce our new product, the hitch mounted dust/backup light!

After a few people contacted me about a easy solution for a running a amber dust light for raptor runs, I started drawing up some solutions. While there are other solutions that use the hitch receiver to mount some lights, they require a more permanent approach and still need wired up.

When designing this, I wanted to have the following features available, and the end result features the following:

- stupid easy 30 second Installation literally takes 30 seconds or less and just cannot get any easier.

- 100% plug & play with custom made harnesses, plug directly into the 7-pin round trailer hookup.

- built-in 3-position switch allows the unit to stay plugged in, but allows for you to switch to off, reverse light mode, and running light mode.

- features Baja Designs Squadron Series flush mount LED lights (Sport/Pro).

- entire unit is made of 3/16" thick steel, which will take on just about anything you can throw at it short of landing your truck on it :ROFLJest:

- housing and custom harnesses are 100% built in-house.

- 100% pre-assembled, ready for install as quick as you can open up the UPS box.

This is designed for those that do not want, or need, a fully integrated light setup and are looking for a easy solution for running an Amber dust light for a run, or a very powerful backup/reverse light for everyday use.

I literally finished up the prototype this afternoon, just in time for @bmacked (thanks for testing it out this weekend for me!) to snag this unit for field testing during snowball this weekend. If your going to snowball, be sure to take a sneek peek. Production units will be slightly smaller in length (about 1").

If you wanted to keep this installed all the time for a backup light and plugged into the trailer hookups, when driving at night with headlights on, won't this be on too (blinding people behind you)?

Or does the 7pin option only come on when in reverse?
Or does the 4pin option always on if your headlights are on?

Yes, the 7 pin round is used for when you want it used as a backup light, and will only turn on when you put your truck in reverse.

The 4 pin flat will activate as soon as running lights turn on. (Do not necessarily need headlights on, just parking lamps).

Thanks, definitely more the reason to get both options!
Since the unit is enclosed, are there any issues with heat? I know that Baja Designs runs at 100% with thermal management but wondering how the heat escapes off the rear fins?

Awesome product you brought to the market by the way!

Great question, and thank you!

For one, the smaller 2"x2" rear tube is hollow so it is not completely sealed off from airflow.

Second, I've had this prototype running approx 32 hours indoors to make sure heat wouldn't be an issue. While LED units do get warm, properly managed, they will not self-destruct.

Thanks Jim! Even though it seems like a simple product (which overall it is), there are definitely some challenges to building these. Sometimes it's hard being simple if that makes sense. Lol

Maybe you should send me one of these for my X5 :ROFLJest:
