So I bought the Howe power steering kit and had a local shop install it. They had to add spacers to push out my Whipple Supercharger's intercooler so the Howe reservoir would fit. It steers at stop now but its rough to the right and really rough and loud to the left. I called Howe and they said this is normal and that I'm not the first to call about the issue. I'm not sure if I would prefer the stock pump which performs good but dies at 30k or this $1200 kit that is choppy and loud but supposedly will last. Not happy Ford didn't put some effort into getting this right in the first place. Especially considering the price of these trucks. Also so far not very happy with the Howe kit.

I ended up stopping by Howe performance to let him check it out. The vibration and noise is normal. This pump creates too much pressure for the weak rack. It steers good besides a certain range where it vibrates and makes noise. Does it in either direction. Just something to consider before pulling the trigger on this kit

I know this is an older thread. I had my power steering pump/rack blow out while swerving around a car that slamed on its brakes. I was able to miss the car but hit a small garage. I was only doing about 35. Its like the steering froze up and the ffkin truck was doing donuts all over the place. Anyway what should I get for a replacement setup. It looks like the oil is coming from the seals on the pump shaft. Should I change out everything? When I first start the truck it turns but resists after 10min it barely moves ,like and old 70s truck with its wheels wedged between 2 rocks.
