Just want to say thank you to all of the forum members for your help and participation among one another. I have a new coupon code for anything from our email tunes, tuners, intakes, you name it.

Coupon code: raptor215

So I'm in the market for a tune, finally...and i'm looking for a true custom tune and I think i read that you guys take a snap shot of the stock EEC/ECM and then build the custom tunes from there...is that true?

Below was taken from a website that is not yours:

After you order your tuner, you are sent a "blank" tuner without any custom tunes. We'll then send you an email that needs to be completely filled out and emailed back to us. However, you'll need to have your tuner before you can complete the form. After your tuner arrives, you'll need to hook it into your truck and get your ECU Strategy Code and put it in your tune email next to "Strategy". After we receive your completed tune information, the tune itself will be built and sent to you via email as an attachment. Download the tunes .cef files to your computer and use your updated SCT software from SCT's website to upload the tunes to your tuner. Please be aware that SCT's devices and software are only compatible with Microsoft Windows computers, and will not work with Mac OS X, Linux, or other operating systems. Once the tunes are in the tuner, you can then tune your truck. If we find that your Raptor is behind on its latest TSB strategy updates, we may require you to have your TSB updates performed at your dealership of choice. Read our TSB Update blog post. If you need more information or assistance, check out our F150 Tuning How-To blog post.
Stage 3's 5-Star Custom Tuning Step-by-Step:
1. You place your order for 5-Star's Custom Tunes
2. Stage 3 sends you a "blank" tuner and a tune sheet form
3. You hook the tuner into your truck and pull its ECU strategy code
4. You fill out our tune sheet with the information from your truck and its strategy code
5. If your truck has Ford's latest strategy updates, we'll forward your information over to 5-Star and get your tunes created
6. Once 5-Star creates your tunes, they're be emailed to you at the address linked to your Stage 3 account
7. Download 5-Star's tunes to your tuning device using SCT's Device Updater Software
8. Now load your 5-Star Custom Tune of choice into your Raptor

I just got mine from them a few weeks ago and didn't have to do all that. I just filled out the form online and they sent me my livewire preloaded with the tunes I chose. Really the only way to get a "custom tune" is to put it on a dyno and tune it, every vehicle is going to be a little different. The "canned tunes" are so good these days that unless you have some engine work done (heads, cams, power adder etc) the cost for dyno time to get a "custom tune" may not be worth it. I'm very happy with there street tune (91 octane) so far. Can't wait to get back home where we have 93 octane and try out the performance tune lol.

Good to know, wonder why this third party for 5 star is offering or posting that on their website.

So far you like the 5 star tune? I have a local buddy with the SVC tune and he likes that. I'm leaning towards 5 Star though.

vanilla_gorilla, yes indeed. We take all of the information from the ECU, your specs, preferences and your driving style. We can always make alterations and perform datalogs to dial the tune in even further.

Stage 3 is one of our many vendors that sells devices for us. Each one of our vendors collects information for us differently and then relays the information to us.

When you get the opportunity to try the 93 perf tune you are going to love it! We do all of our tuning in house and gather as much info as possible about the vehicle in order to send the tunes out loaded on the device and chance we get. Our custom tunes are so close to a dyno tune that you won't really see much difference. We've spent so much r&d time making sure our tunes we offer on the device and via email are every bit as good as a dyno tune. =)
