NEW Ford Raptor "Dead Pedal" Fabrication!

Just wondering what exactly you would make out of a full set. I mean by that would the two other pedals be metal with rubber pads or just metal? I had aftermarket pedals and they were metal with a very grippy rough surface. Worst thing I ever put on the car. Everytime I got on it and hit the clutch my foot slipped. Even slipped at times putting on brakes. It was also very expensive. Looked great but was not very functional. Now the dead pedal was fine as it was used to just reat my foot upon but once you start moving your feet around the pedals were frankly pretty slippery regardless of the rough grippy surface. I even paid more money for the little rubber knobby surface to fit into the holes in the metal pedals. That was even worse and I took them back out. Long story shory I put the stock pedals back on the car. Just my experience with aftermarket pedals. Look great but for me not very useful. Thbe dead pedal was very useful as I just rested my foot on it.

I actually had some of the same thoughts and I know that the guys at Craven Speed have some of the same reservations. They also have reservations due to seeing how many folks are not ******** the dead pedals to their floors. The matching pedals would have to be screwed to the stock pedal bases and designing them otherwise would not work out so well. But like you stated, finding a happy medium between form and function is going to be a tricky proposition, especially with keeping them affordable. That being said, I am going to start another thread about the matching pedals with a POLL to determine not only who would want them (I have noted those that have expressed an interest, but need everything consolidated in one place for easier reference) and to get input like yours on those specifically so that the guys at Craven can do what they do in the R&D process in an attempt to make them a viable product.

Your right...it will be a tricky proposition. With the vette pedals you had to drill holes right into the stock pedal and that was a real hard task with the vette pedals as they are rounded. Then you had to slide under the seat (no room at all) and try to screw in the new pedals while laying backwards. The issue is if you use bare metal to make it look good you give up any real traction. You use a rubber pad and your right where you started. It will take some thinking out of the box for these. I know there is some really rough line-x that may offer a good texture. I am sure if it can be done you guys will do it. Folks may not appreciate the difficulty in mass producing this kind of product and the huge risk taken in relation to the save driving factor of the consumer. Got my dead pedal yesterday. Installed in about six minutes. Man this thing is really well made. I mean very heavy duty and very nice powder coat. I will say just the firewall attachment may not be enough for some of you folks who rough it a lot. They give you screws to attach to the floorboard so it will not move at all. Mine was fine with just the firewall attachment for now. Great job guys.....this is real quality stuff for the price!

Agreed. For long distance highway driving, the firewall attachment is sufficient.
