I thought the current style F-150's ( 04 and newer) were said to be almost 500 lbs heavier than the previous model? That was SVT's reason for discontinuing the Lightning. I know they used some aluminum panels on those era trucks.

Is that not based on the average of the manufactures total fleet sold that year ??

If so it could be possible
Just limited edition raptor then :)

yup it is, but people don't understand that and just think automatically that CAFE standards means no big engines. It just means there needs to be enough efficient ones to offset the gas guzzlers so the fleet average meets the standards. The 2.7 ecoboost should be GREAT news for guys wanting a 6.2, that helps the CAFE standards be met by ford offering yet another fuel efficient engine option, so if/when Ford does come out with a Raptor in say 2016, there's a better chance they can offer a 6.2 in a limited edition truck, since the regular f150's offered with three different fuel efficient v6's can help the truck meet the CAFE standards and offset the 6.2 pulling it down.

With no raptor in the 2015 lineup not sure why all the crying over no 6.2, there's not really a truck in the lineup that needs it for 2015.

My understanding is the 6.2 will be retired. I'm pretty confident we may still see a gen 2 raptor produced.

Say The 6.2 has halve the economy of the rest of the fleet avarage
With just the 2015 raptor getting a 6.2
And itmbeeint 5% of total sales
That would be 5% of 50%
So just reducing the fleets econmy with 2.5%

You think that would be realy mess it up?

Cutting the Raptor doesn't make sense with the amount units being ordered/sold. I ordered mine on 11/12/13 and will get a production date by the end of the month. Ford... just stuff the GT 500 engine under the hood and lets move forward.

It all comes down to retooling the factory for the new production changes and then once they work on replenishing the demand the Raptor will return.
