Did any one do an installed write up on this? If so, can you post the link? I'm trying to find a reference, but can't find one.

Thanks

Since the package was sent to my father's shop, I haven't seen it yet. I was looking for some advance reading and install tips.

Do you have any concerns about it partially obstructing the radiator or the force on the brackets/light/grill when the hood is slammed shut repeatedly?

You bolt the brackets on the outside of the grill supports, bolts facing out, I used some loctite since the kit doesn't come with locking washers or lock nuts.

Using the brackets as a template I drilled a 1/8" hole & a 7/32" hole on either side (hole size is NOT listed in the directions.)

Using one of the inner mounting tabs I partially screwed the driver's side on using the 1/8" bolt. Leave it it loose and you don't want the bolt to stick through the tab. apply some thick grease to the tab's teeth.

Take the other tab and apply some thick grease to the teeth and stick it on the light.

take the light (cord side towards the hood) and insert the driver's side end in first (to the tab that's loosely installed) and then slide the passenger side end in lining up the holes. hold the passenger end with on hand and start the larger bolt by hand (it's much easier to use the larger bolt one handed), but do not tighten. (repeat for the other side)
While loose the light still will remain in the mounts and you can "adjust" the mounting tabs by hand. Put some lock tight on the small bolt and run it in tight & tighten the Driver's side as well.

once the tabs are locked in place you can rotate the light to your liking and then tighten the larger bolts down.

You have to add 12ga wire to the stock length cable since it's only about 34". I added another 36" with weather proof butt connectors and then wrapped it in electrical tape.

I ran the wires behind the hood blanket and then through the hood vent hole along the hood ground. then I fished the wire under some existing wires to the underhood bundle. I also ran to a common ground on the inner fender.

Hope this helps.

My 2 cents on the install ....

Unless you are BigJ tall, it helps to use a piece of wire or rope to hold the hood down at a height comfortable for you to work.

Like WorldTour mentioned, the bolt heads holding the brackets are on the inside of the frame. At least the bottom ones are or they will interfere with the light bar. The top bolts can be either way. I also did not get lock washers, so I used nylon insert locknuts.

The smaller socket head cap screw I used loctite. The larger one holding the light bar I added a stainless locking washer.

You may need to loosen (or tighten) the frame. On mine, I found loosening the bottom frame bolt on one side just a little aided me in mounting the light bar.

I placed my wires in convoluted tubing (split tubing) and routed along the existing marker light bundle and then along the back of the firewall. Its the long way around. Soldered the connection and used heat shrink tubing.

Thats all I can think of at the moment. Good luck!

Edit - I forgot to mention the horn. The light bar will interfere with the horns if you do not bend the bracket. Pushing the bracket back for the horn that goes straight down works, but for the horn that goes off to the right, I had to remove the bracket and make a couple of bends using a vise for the horn to clear.
