For the very best filtration I'd get the Volant because of the Donaldson Power Core filter

Yeah but I don't want to use some cheap aftermarket radiator fluid reservoir... Maybe its not that bad but it looks cheap from the pictures.

Yeah I just moved here from California... Let's just say it's a bit different out here in Nebraska. I haven't really had a chance to explore yet but I'm hoping once I get back from Europe I can really see what the Raptor has! So from what I gather from you guys... as long as I'm not an idiot around water I shouldn't have any issues? Maybe a shield of some sort to help out. Will a CAI give you many more ponies or gas mileage or is it just more for the sound? All the input is much appreciated by the way!

A CAI will NOT change your mpg upward. Anybody who claims that is either lying or spoofing the airflow sensor and running too lean.

Depending upon the filter used, a good CAI MAY give you a few more ponies at the upper end of the rpm range when the engine is sucking all the air it can get. Under those conditions the factory paper element might be unable to flow as much air as the engine is calling for. But under normal driving conditions/normal throttle openings you will not notice any difference in power.

With a good CAI you probably will notice that abrupt throttle inputs are responded to by the engine more readily and without the lag that is evident with the factory intake.

Depending upon the design, you may notice some intake "honk" that you do not hear from the factory intake. This will be particularly noticeable at the shift points, at large throttle openings, and with CAIs that have an open top.

I don't have one because of this. Different manufacturers consist of different stages of security, but none are designed against dirt/water intake nearly as well as the inventory Honda product.Saw a guy with a Avoid Dakota destroy his engine generating quick through a foot-deep mess once (fully start factor installation with definitely no protection).

What the hell does "the inventory Honda product" have to do with the Raptor am I missing something here?

I have the off road AFE filter with the pre-filter over the top of that. Not sure if this one is water proof but some companies are boasting about a hydro-shield pre-filter.

Anyone experience small amounts of bucking under load? I installed my afe and noticed it bucking slightly. When I installed my 5 star tune I notice it more.
I am going to take the afe off and see if maybe the afe messes with the maf sensor

I notice that you have a 2010 5.4L, I to had it do the same thing.
I told Mike at 5star and he adjusted the tune accordingly.
Hasn't done it since.
