hey guys, just wanted to get an understanding of what the difference is between getting headers with the catted x pipe or the catted y-pipe? is one going to perform better than the other? and what size headers are ideal if the only other mods are going to be a cai, a tune and maybe cams when there available. Thanks for the help, John

A catted X-pipe is a 2 into 2 system mean your start with dual exhaust and end with dualexhaust.

A catted Y-pipe is a 2 into 1 system the merges dual exhaust into a single.

Performance advantage is arguable either way. Done proper a Y-pipe setup will have slightly more bottem end power (very slight). The X-pipe will have a slightly better top end (very slight).

Regarding the header tube diameter, I don't have any info that will help there. Bigger is not always better. The will all flow far better than the stock manifolds. The biggest restriction in the exhaust system is the stock cats.
