We are going to be coming up with some more options in the near future that will help bring some more $ to the site (unfortunately that's what it' takes to compete) and start applying funds collected towards beefing up our search engine marketing presence as well as getting into some more grassroots methods of promoting FRF. The bright side of this though is that it is going to mean an upcoming line of cool merch for FRF and maybe some enhanced site options/sections for you guys if you choose to participate.

No advertising beats word-of-mouth though. For those of you that do love this place and call it home, there is no better way you can help us grow than friend-to-friend word-of-mouth recommendations.

I don't think we will ever be on top for the term "raptor forum" as that usualy deals with the Yamaha raptor quad(4 wheeler)

Bo - is the Google ranking based on google searches?? In other words .. if we (our members) were to do an extra Google search, a couple of times per day, for "raptor forum" would that help?? Forgive my lack of Googleness

Those are definitely questions for Shaggy. He's our Technical Genius, but they are very good questions that I too would like to hear the answers of. I'm not nearly as internet-savvy as The Shagg Man.

Not really sure as google doesn't tell its secrets on how it ranks sites. I think it just has to do with the amount of info the site contains and if its a good site that the google searcher will like to visit.

I've wondered if the ranking is based 1) on the number of searches and 2) the number of "clicks" on the link provided by the Google search engine??

Like I said, we never really know as its a trade secret on googles part on how they rank sites. We are told to just use great meta tag keywords that are similar to your site content and have information posted on the site/forum. What google wants to do is make sure a user searching for something, like "ford raptor forum", will be satisfied with what they find. So google bots spider the whole site to see if that info on the site is what that user is looking for.

What helps us a ton is the url - fordraptorforum.com. Thats why you see us on top of google when someone searches "ford raptor forum"

Thanks for clearing that up Shagg.

That being said, I'm sure if our members juiced us a few extra site hits through Google searches of "Raptor Forum" and finding us on Page 2 I would think it could only help towards getting us to Page 1.
