Hey guys.

I will be going to SW Colorado in Late June. We will be based out of the Creede/Lake City Area.

Plans are to run a bunch of the alpine loop, hitting Ouray, Silverton, and possibly Telluride. Not 100% on which passes we will do, but I think we will be spending about 4 days and 3 nights on the trail. Most likely camping. Finishing the trip off with climbing Handies peak (a 14er).

We would love to have anyone that wants to, join us.

We spoke briefly about this in Texas. I'm there...just give me dates so I can plan ahead. Looking forward to it, Trey.

Pirate Air lives around there too. I'll bet he'll come out to play if he's around.

Yeah I'd be down to run some trails. Depending on work/school I might only be able to make it out for a day or two.

I think that's when we are planning on going. My wife's families cabin is between Creede and Lake City. Right next to North Clear Creek Falls.

This will be an informal deal. We plan on tent camping at least a few of the nights, and we might stay one night in Ouray. All plans are completely subject to change too.

Rough plan is.

Lake City to Animas Forks
Animas to Ouray via California/Corkscrew
camp
Ouray to Telluride and back. Blackbear/Imogene Pass.
Stay in Ouray
Ouray to Animas forks via engineer pass.
Animas to HWY 149 via Stony pass.

Find time to hit American basin to climb Handies peak (optional).

For Ouray-Telluride loop, you could take Imogene starting in Ouray, descend into Telluride, take hwy 145 out of Telluride to Town of Ophir (8-10 miles iirc), and take Ophir pass back to hwy 550/Silverton. This loop is easily done in a day, Ophir pass is short and drops you pretty close to Silverton.

I think Black Bear pass would be iffy in the Raptor.

I did Ophir last year in the opposite direction. It was fun. Awesome camping spot right after you turn off of the hwy in silverton. I figured blackbear was going to be suspect in a Raptor. I heard it is awesome though.

Ophir may work out better though, since it brings us back into Silverton. Takes out Engineer from the HWY. But thats a pretty tight trail at the bottom anyways.
