If not tuning the vehicle is the shoud neccessary or just the bracket? I understand the need for the bracket but most of the writeup on the website talks about adding the extra power and having issues. I'm all for adding items that are better than factory, allow more air and keep things cool but I never plan on running a tune.

Depends on the cover that your raptor came with. If it’s the newer version you can get away with just the bracket.if you have the older shroud design like mine you should get them both. You need it to have adequate airflow to the intake and even stock the intake scoop can collapse burning up your turbos.

For me, it cost $130 for peace of mind that I'm helping airflow. Pretty inexpensive relative to overall truck cost. Not running a tune currently. Probably going to try and hold off a while.

If you don’t have the revised shroud I’d say it’s “mandatory.” The fact that Ford changed that part tells you they acknowledge that the trucks needed more air. I don’t think the tuned trucks are pulling much higher boost than a stock truck so if tuned trucks need it, the stock truck would probably benefit too.

In my case, I felt the snorkel was “needed” given the stock one has been shown to collapse. For an extra $100 the shroud was cheap peace of mind.

for all those who haven't seen the video and or didn't have the time to read the 128 previous posts on the thread. its the why to get the bracket and how to fix with minimal work. they have a fix for the 1st shroud used on the gen 3. zip ties do the trick If you are frugal.

link to Cobbs site on the why and the different stock shrouds used on the gen 3 and fixes. and the video of intake

apparently according to what I was told and read. Ford will do nothing unless you actually damage the turbos. At least as of now they aren't doing anything unless failure happens.

these were all up in the earlier posts figured id re post for those who are just finding this.

Here is the actual video of the scoop collapsing.

I am torn I like the coolant cover, tubes etc that match the shroud texture. more rugged looking in keeping with the raptor feel. but the CF looks sweet but maybe too much high performance sportscar'ish. hard to decide. not to mention its cheaper. by a lot. it doesn't look like the snorkel and or tubes and filter box are available that way yet. hope they offer soon like to get it all. the bracket is pretty much the most important part but the whole total package really dresses up the engine bay. decisions decisions. guess ill send them an email and wait a bit to see what they come out with next.
