After 1 year of waiting and a 7K price increase, my Gen 3 37 truck was delivered last week with a hood defect from factory, chip in driver front fender with fiberglass exposed, passenger front fender damage, passenger front wheel damage, left rear quarter panel damage, scuffs on rear seat leather from throwing the floor mat on top of seat, dirt nibs in hood and scratches on right matte black tail pipe.

The dealer offered to send my truck to the body shop for repairs. I informed them I wasn't buying a refurbished new truck, I ordered a brand new truck free from factory defects and shipping damage. They said great and within one hour had my truck listed for 10k over MSRP. The truck sold in less than a week.

I contacted Ford executives and never received a response. I guess there are plenty of people are willing to pay over sticker for a poor quality Raptor.

Two months ago, my wife ordered a BMW and it was delivered within 3 weeks from NC in perfect condition. Since her purchase, BMW engineering and manufacturing has called twice to see how everything is going. I guess Ford could care less about customers.

The only problem with my Gen 2 was scratches on the dash from the factory. Good luck with your Raptor purchase if you decide to buy it. Hopefully you'll have better luck than me.

I thought the same but I got rid of the gen 2 as well and don't regret it. there were a few recalls and fixes for that but the cam phasers (which were fixed who knows if they were the right new parts since it was before the recall happened). and the white smoke from the exhaust scared me more than the issues with the gen 3. at least these issues aren't coming from the drivetrain. I have a few of the issues but very subtle and will get them fixed now that there is actually fixes for them.

again to me these issues are minor compared to having to possible go thru having another set of cam phasers needed or turbo seals being needed after a warranty runs out. Extended warranty is all I can say. and go for it. I don't regret my decision.

I am in the zero issues group after 5k so far. I could not be happier. Never been in a Gen 2 but we have had our Gen 1 since 2014.

One thing that I see as a trend across the automotive and motorcycle forum communities is that the people with issues are much more vocal (this is not necessarily a bad thing, especially when you are looking for a resolution) than the people with no issues. I just think that you should take this into consideration when trying to gauge what you read as a representation of what buyers are experiencing.

Mine showed up with a damaged driver seat, and cuts in the leather of my rear seat. Also, both passenger front and rear door seam sealer is peeling off. Being corrected by Ford through my dealer. I love the truck. I’ll be honest, I had two gen3 Tacomas. Both had a gamut of problems. I’m not a brand snob, but even Toyota has issues, and I have a few friends that had problems/have problems with their Tacoma’s. They just don’t discuss it as much as other brands do.

Overthinking it. Just buy it and enjoy it for what it is: a premier Baja truck that’s essentially in perpetual limited edition status. A higher price doesn’t necessarily correspond to any greater probability of eliminating possible minor issues from popping up- that’s what your warranty is for regardless of price. Additionally, you’ll find more expensive vehicles out there with their own assortment of issues that owners are dealing with — can’t get around it. You’re paying for the tech, the capability, and the overall driving experience. If the Raptor is the truck you want, then take delivery and enjoy the thing.

Now if we could get BMW to make a truck similar to the Raptor, then we’d be in business. Although it would probably be a money pit after the first 5 years…

Just about every vehicle has quality issues. Whether a Porsche or a Ford, it does not really matter. JD Power ranks every brand with problems per 100 cars as reported by owners. The number is in the hundreds for every brand. Also, no one goes on a forum or FB and writes a post "Raptor ran great today. No issues at all." So how many bad Gen3 posts have you read? Probably hundreds? Probably over tens of thousands of Gen3s on the road by now.

Are Gen3s dropping trannies and blowing cylinder heads left and right? No, not really. A few bad headlights and some rattling exhaust valves and the other normal stuff. I'm sure a few people have thrown a rod or shredded a differential or two. It's all under warranty. It sucks when something goes wrong but they cover it. If something becomes a bad enough problem, they will issue a recall either voluntarily or by mandate by the government.
