I did this too and then noticed I don’t need it (neither do you) due to the redesigned trim/cover. Oh well, can’t hurt to have it
Mine was still warping. considering that half the intake is sealed off by the hood, there isn’t much of an opening. I want it as solid as possible.

i'd recommend you strongly consider the AFE air scoop. the material is much thicker and stronger, plus the attachment points they provide seem solid as well (i.e. they wont come loose like stock). I think the cobb attachment points look superior and i bet their reinforcement point would work with the AFE scoop as well. Not sure it would be necessary though. I ve had the scoop on my truck for a little while now and it is good to go.

Has anybody asked Cobb about when the new shroud is going to be released? I was going to order the bracket for the intake. If it's not that long I might wait to get both at one time. That is if Fords Fix isn't good enough. This shroud looks pretty nice.

also has anybody had the dealer do the fix for this. replacement of the upper air deflector, which is a supposed part. according to the Cobb video I have the problematic shroud. and when I checked. my pins were a little lifted maybe 1/4 inch max. pushed them down. makes me nervous. looks like that will be normal check until I get it fixed. Annoyingly, the dealer fix (TSB) is waiting until your turbos fail and then replace them. There is a different design of the shroud and I guess push pins but even the part number listed on the TSB is the prior version.

If your tree style push pins are lifting it is probably collapsing under normal throttle. The Cobb video shows it best and even when the push pins are fully seated it was severely restricting airflow. Mine was doing the same and even a trip around the block lifted them back out.

Spend the $20 and get the Cobb bracket and throw away your shroud.

So are you saying they don't do anything until the turbos fail? That seems asinine. They won't even put in the newly designed shroud or deflector as a prevention. Just Crazy

Considering I have 15k miles on it, my pins weren't out nearly enough for me to be concerned yet. Even still one side was out more than the other but not even close to coming fully out.

It looks like ill do the zip tie trick in Cobb's video and also get the Cobb bracket in leu of getting the new Cobb shroud until its released. I guess it makes no sense to even deal with Ford with it since that should be enough to keep it from collapsing and get more air in there.

-correct
-I would still be concerned, picture below shows it best and those are with the pins not lifting up.. So for them to be lifting up there’s probably been some continual force.

-I would just leave it off as it doesn’t affect anything according to Cobb’s testing. It will be way easier to install the bracket without that shroud and will be an easy install when ever Cobb releases theirs.

On a side note my commute is 100% city. Ever since the Cobb bracket and dumping that old deflector/shroud my average MPG keeps climbing even with winter blend now. Doubt I would see anything on highway driving but interesting.
