The problem is dishonest stealers sometimes lie or obfuscate when confronted with the ugly allocation question. We can’t make them be honest and with the number of stealers out there stringing potential Raptor buyers along with no allocation and no hope of ever getting one, this is the only way a buyer can actually get a Raptor in today’s market. I don’t like it, but that’s literally how it is. You can way 14-18 months to get your truck, maybe or you can make several orders and stand a slightly better chance of getting your truck in as little as 9-12 months by making multiple orders from multiple stealerships.
Exactly. I ordered ONE truck a year ago and was told that they had the location and the truck never came. Per the previous commenter, I do not have multiple regular Raptors on order. One 22 that was ordered a ago and now converted to a 23 and an R which may never come. The truck that is coming soon was a dealer stock order.

I would take it.

Used 2021/2022 models are going for significantly over MSRP still. Ford has thousands of 2022 trucks on hold or otherwise undelivered, and now first week 2023 models are already on chip hold with no ETA. I am also debating getting a TRX but the groups I follow on FB seem to have a ton of issues, from a driveline clunk with no fixes to them shutting down in the middle of the road. I hate the way it handles and brakes. Also, 340 miles range sucks. Acceleration is almost as amazing as the exhaust tone, and the interior is great so those are pluses for me.

The trx driveline clunk has been around since 2013 when they moved to the ZF tranny. I lemoned a 2014 and a 2016 Ram limited for same exact reason. Both trucks were bought back by FCA. The problem is software and they refuse to fix it or don't know how.

The Ram tech ran diagnostics on his laptop while we drove around. When coming to complete stop, the tranny will be in 2nd or 3rd gear, then downshift into shift 1st gear after the truck has made a complete stop and make a loud clunk. Since there was no fix, they bought back both my trucks. It's funny watching those guys on the TRX forum try to figure out what's wrong with their 100k truck.

The 350 mile range is a huge bummer when compared to a V6 Raptor with 500 miles. That truly is my biggest gripe. I’ve had a couple of minor warranty things on my TRX (they replaced the driveline because of the clunk- so far so good there), but I‘ve accepted that as it’s the first year model growing pains.

I‘ve said it from the start, the TRX is a better vehicle for me, but that doesn’t make it a better vehicle. If I lived somewhere that I did a lot of desert running I’d probably have kept the Raptor. In Western Montana I just enjoy the TRX more. Somebody in a different area may hate the TRX.

So my saga started one year ago when I ordered a 2022 pretty much loaded Raptor from a dealer in a medium sized town. They "guessed" about 6 months to get the truck. After months of Ford Performance replies of "Unscheduled Clean", it turned into "Balanced Out" back in August or September.

Since I didn't know if my truck would ever come I ordered a TRX in March and was told that I would have a VIN in a week and a truck in 3 months or so. I did get the VIN in a week and subscribed to the TRX Forum and submitted my VIN only to see hundreds of VINs after mine getting built and mine getting passed up. At the time I ordered the TRX being able to buy one for MSRP (which this was) seemed to be a good deal. The truck finally came last week but now you can order them for $9k under so I don't think that I'm going to take it.

After getting balanced out, my Raptor got "reordered" as a 2023 in September. I think that I was originally told that they had an allocation but in fact didn't. Now they say the first Raptor in will be mine but they still have no timeline. Since all of the "in-stock" Raptors seem to be thousands over MSRP I was happy to find a 2022 just like mine coming to another dealer and settled at $2k over MSRP to be able to end the wait. It is due into the other dealer in a week or two. So.....that's my story.

Here is the question: I'm sick of waiting and am willing to take a slight hit to get a truck. From what I know it seems like in stock Raptors still have an ADP of $5k to $20k depending on the part of the country. I'm sure with my luck that when I take the 2022 at $2k ADP that my 2023 will get picked and get built. If that happens I will want to sell the low mile 2022 with as little hit as possible. Based on the market and what these are bringing, relative to MSRP, what is the opinion on what a couple month old '22 in perfect condition would bring.

I also have an R that is still an active Unscheduled Clean order that I may or may not ever see. If that does in fact get built, that would be my final truck but with the limited number of those, I'm not holding my breath.

Thoughts?
I would guess you could sell for MSRP or a few 1000 under MSRP. I have a 23 on order and on the same boat, mine is a commuter and it will accumulate miles, You will alway’s take a hit. Mines a 37 and I expect 6000 off msrp with 12000 miles . Just a guess

Here is the latest update to my thread: The "President's Award" dealer called me a week ago to tell me that his rep told them that the R was not going to come. He is going to keep it on order and see what happens. Maybe it will help if it has been on order for a year when the '24s come out to have a chance at one. I doubt it but who knows.
My '23 that is was converted from a "balanced out" 2022 that was ordered in October 2021 still shows Unscheduled Clean. (probably won't have the Raptor tailgate, heated steering, or heated mirrors when it does get built anyway).
The 2022 that I found at another dealer and put a deposit on in September 2022 is finally at the dealership (over 2 months later after being built). It has the Raptor tailgate, heated wheel, and heated mirrors. I will make one last check on the '23 and if there is no new info on a build date, I will take the '22 and see what happens from there. At least I will have a truck to drive after waiting over a year.
I also found an area dealer that will sell the TRX for invoice which isn't as good as the $9000 off that Granger is but it's $7000 off so better to "shop local" for the $2k difference. If I decide that I need 700hp and since I will probably never get an R coming, that would be an option.

Ok, so if I were trying to be cost effective as possible, I’d cancel all ordered trucks and just hold my pants on for the Raptor R.

But, some of us have money to burn…I’d try to find a cheap ($9k under MSRP) trx and wait until my r was built. But, it might come sooner than you think. I think most people can’t afford an R.‍♀️

The R may never get built. That is the more likely outcome for most of them that have been ordered. I picked up the 22 that I didn’t order. I will wait and see if the 23 or the R ever show and decide from there.
