I recently noticed this same rattle... I thought it was my license plate for a bit until I put two additional screws in it. Unfortunately, that wasnt the issue.

Is there a fix from Ford on this issue yet?

Dropping my truck off next Wednesday to get this fixed. I'll report back...

Did they advise you on what they'll be doing to fix it? Other owners have had theirs replaced and it comes right back...
Nope and I honestly don't care anymore. I've dealt with it long enough and it just needs to be fixed. If it breaks again, so be it. Ford will just waste more money fixing it again.

I would probably wait until something definitive is done because I don't trust the techs to be touching my truck twice!

I unplugged my exhaust valve harnesses today. The rattle went away completely. It could be a temp solution until a real fix is made. I plugged them back in, however, as the exhaust got VERY quiet when accelerating hard, and I was a little concerned that the valves could be possibly closing too much? It seemed like the pressure of the exhaust gasses were forcing the valves to shut more than usual. Possibly causing a backup of exhaust gasses in the system? I’m not sure what was happening, but it was more quiet than when I push it hard in “quiet” mode!

Once unplugged I'm pretty sure the valve will permanently remain in whatever state it was in when unplugged. Even in quiet mode I'm pretty sure it still opens the valve slightly upon hard acceleration so it's likely you just have a lot of back pressure in your exhaust due to the valve being permanently shut.

I tried it again today. The truck had been sitting for a little while. I unplugged the harnesses and ran some errands. They seem to be staying more open now! Previously, I had unplugged them while the truck was running. It sounds pretty close to “sport” mode, now! Even under hard acceleration. I am going to leave them unplugged until I hear of a permanent fix. Also, I could swear that the idle shudder in drive at a stop has gone away. More driving tomorrow will tell me for sure!

Thanks for sharing this; look forward to your next update!

Could you please share a photo or description of where the exhaust valve harnesses plugs are located?

And could you or anyone else with knowledge / expertise please comment on any negative repercussions of leaving unplugged?

Just took my truck to the dealer today (for the 3rd time) and called ford customer service while it was there. Basically got told "there is nothing we can do" period. No ETA, No Temp Fix. Probably the worst experience I have ever had with a customer service rep. They wouldn't do anything to help. Might have just sealed the deal this is my last ford ever.
