I was first in line for R, and even received email from Ford about order on my name with the build I wanted. But now dealer is saying they will either auction my R or raffle it. I’m confused about what is the Ford angle in all this. Why do they collect my information and talk to me if dealer can easily cut me out at will?

Unless money changed hands, the stealer can do what they want because they’re receiving it from Ford. I think they’re technically the purchaser/reseller.

There’s no confusion at all. They want more money than your willing to give them so they will open it up to the highest bidder.

I can’t imagine how many of these posts will start to happen when the R actual starts to be delivered.

Who knows. May even happen to me. Even with signed documents, it is not a guarantee. The dealership can say all kinda stuff and you have no recourse. If they sell to someone else your ordered vehicle, what recourse do we actually have.

Honestly just curious as I really could care either way if my order does come in (low expectation given the market). How is there not some recourse legally if the dealer places the order specifically for you, with a copy of your driver’s license, and in some instances a large deposit of funds?

Coupling that with this being a special edition order and not something the dealer could order for “stock” at there dealership? In order to get the vehicle a “consumer” has to place the order for the dealer to receive it? This is the piece I’m murky on.

Sounds like something that could be challenged legally.

Sadly there is not. you will hear all sorts of members “beating” their chests about how you can do this and that. It has been happening at a frequency way to often as of late, the selling of ordered vehicles at an ADM after an agreed on price.

And F is raising prices like they’re the only person who sells intimate favors in town. This segment needs more competition.

Blame lobbyist and dealership schemes. Ever wondered why we can't purchase directly from the manufacturer? It's because of them.
Now unless you signed a document that specifically states your name with a specific vin on a specific price with promise of garentee then I'm afraid the dealer can do what they want. As mentioned beforehand, the dealership is the actual buyer from Ford and sounds like they are going to do whatever they want to make the most money. This is why I never buy limited editions or first year cars
