What would you do? Raptor vs Wrangler 392

So,
Got an order for an avalanche grey raptor, july 21 order confirmed
(no markup, no deposit, no idea if allocated)
- eta only god knows
- MSRP 77520
- priority (i dont even know)

Also, have an order confirmed august 19 for a sting gray jeep 392
- eta 8-15 weeks (approx. december)
- MSRP 81985
- 3.5k off msrp
- build priority 01

Ive never had a jeep or a raptor, my dream truck has always been a raptor. i am mostly a ford guy but have owned (stellantis/ fca) vehicles in the past as-well. but when the jeep 392 was announced, it was definitely added to my wish list. Also, Im not a big off road guy but want one of these 2 iconic cars.

So my question is, what would you do,
Get delivery of the jeep 392 coming soon or keep waiting for a raptor that might arrive between 18-24 months; and save some down payment money while i wait in my dodge charger (no, its not a 392) lol

Use case would help determine the right answer for you. If you're taking a lot of long haul trips/vacations, may do some high speed desert running, have a family and need a do it all kind of vehicle I think the Raptor is the perfect choice. If you're looking for a local run-about/in-town kind of car, prefer rock/trail crawling, and seldom have passengers the 392 would probably be easier to live with. I love my Raptor, my favorite vehicle I've owned so far, but it's size can be a compromise. Downtown parking garages and tight parking lots are a bit of a chore(not a dealbreaker, just being honest).

Are you in So-Cal per your profile? You would definitely get some use out of the removable top on the 392, it's a ton of fun. As a city/beach vehicle I think you would love the 392. Probably also a good idea to at least consider gas prices in your area, and potential future regulations in CA for high horsepower V8s. Really can't go wrong either way though, if I were you I'd carefully consider my use case and pull the trigger with which one fits your lifestyle best. As others have stated, you could easily buy the 392 and get your money back with little/no depreciation if you end up wanting the Raptor instead.

The 392 16-plug V8 Hemi is hard to pass up. The exhaust rumble alone is worth the price if admission. Rumors are 2023 may be the last year of Rubicon 392 production.

I would purchase the 392 and make a decision on what to keep after your Raptor arrives. Every 392 owner can’t keep the grin of their face whenever the push the fun pedal.

Truth, until i get to the gas station and realize i am averaging 9-11mpg

The Wrangler won't lose much, if any, value. They are fun to drive until they aren't. Safety ratings are not the best. I'd suggest renting one for two weeks and using it as you would normally use it (I get it won't be a 392 but you'll still get the rest of the experience) and see if it suits you.

I like the overall versatility of the Raptor (hauling, towing, passenger space, performance, comfort, roadtrips, off-road, etc), but if you're looking for something specifically to crawl...

Buy a $15k used wrangler, put $50k into it on engine/trans (get ya self a proper manual while you’re at it btw) Powdercoat/Linex the frame and everything else to be super durable, sound system w/ woofers & the crate engine of your choice.

I’d NEVER pay $80k for a F’n wrangler man- just like the Raptor the wrangler will get modded & lots of times you can wipe your ass w/ a warranty anyhow….& not to mention, there’s a helluvalot longer track record of wranglers reliably running GM LSx V8s than Mopar ones anyhow lol

This isn’t even a troll/joke post. I’m 100% serious, it’s. Not that easy to make an F150 a Raptor. It’s REAL easy to make a V8 wrangler, BETTER than the factory 392 b/c the aftermarket support is insanely massive & people have been doing it already for decades.

Call up cape cod customs in Wareham MA (not far from factory 5 actually) before you even consider giving that kinda dough up for a factory V8 wrangler

Go with the Jeep it's a reality going with the Raptor most likely just a pipe dream! If it does magically appear you can aways trade in the Jeep or sell it out right.

I've got a jeep Rubicon 2020 JL. It's got the v-6. I obviously have a Gen 3 as well. And the Jeep has come a LONG way from 20 years ago, interior way better and much less "death wobble". They are pretty good daily drivers, and as for acceleration, the 392 will take care of that problem! And love driving with the top off (the jeep not showing my man chesticles). That said, the Raptor is better in every way except for crawling and tight mud trails. The interior is not even a comparison. The truck will be 10 times more quiet and rides much better on the highway. Really can't go wrong either way though! I'd for sure get the Jeep till the truck comes in!
