So,
Got an order for an avalanche grey raptor, july 21 order confirmed
(no markup, no deposit, no idea if allocated)
- eta only god knows
- MSRP 77520
- priority (i dont even know)

Also, have an order confirmed august 19 for a sting gray jeep 392
- eta 8-15 weeks (approx. december)
- MSRP 81985
- 3.5k off msrp
- build priority 01

Ive never had a jeep or a raptor, my dream truck has always been a raptor. i am mostly a ford guy but have owned (stellantis/ fca) vehicles in the past as-well. but when the jeep 392 was announced, it was definitely added to my wish list. Also, Im not a big off road guy but want one of these 2 iconic cars.

So my question is, what would you do,
Get delivery of the jeep 392 coming soon or keep waiting for a raptor that might arrive between 18-24 months; and save some down payment money while i wait in my dodge charger (no, its not a 392) lol

Thank you all, open to all criticism and questions or concerns

I would imagine the wrangler would hold its value if you decided to get it until your raptor is built. If you end up loving the wrangler by the time the raptor is here, You could pass on the Raptor. If you wanted to take the raptor i'm sure you would get a good deal on trade for the Jeep if you went that route.

That is kind of an apples vs. giraffes comparison. Both are BA vehicles. We currently have a built Jeep Rubicon Hard Rock and a Gen 1 Raptor (with a 37 G3 on chip hold). We spend a great deal of time on the Colorado and Utah trails and the Jeep is our go to for that just because it is a better crawler (track width, break over, approach, departure... ). If you aren't going to spend a significant amount of time on the trails, I say pick the one you will never walk away from without looking back. For me, that would be a Raptor.

The only thing I think the Jeep is good for is crawling. If that's what you like, you won't go wrong. The Raptor does high speed and highway really well and is only OK at crawling because it's so big. It's all about what you're going to do. For a comfortable around town/highway vehicle and little off road? Raptor, hands down.

Go drive a Wrangler. I have one and I can say they drive like a lumber wagon. Straight axles are not for everyone. If you haven’t driven one it’ll be like something you’ve never driven before ..in a bad way. The Raptor will be 10x more comfortable and have much more room for people and things. My boys at 4 and 2 already had their feet planted firmly on the back of the front seats.
The 392 would be “cool” but it doesn’t offset all the negatives for me.

My wife has a 2020 Jeep sport, two things small and no power. I’m not a off road guru but on the street , highway you will be eaten up by others.
He won't be eaten up by others in a 392 wrangler. 0-60 in 4.2 in stock form. Would surprise alot and sound good to boot.
I would say get the wrangler and drive it till the Raptor comes in. I have both a Jeep JK and Raptor. They both have there places. For me the raptor is for everything except crawling, nice days for topless driving, and sound (408 LS in the JK). The raptor will be much more comfortable if you drive alot of miles.
I wish the Raptor was able to tow my JK (she is a pig) then I would have everything I want and need.

This is my exact Dilemma, ordered a raptor and a 392 in January and I picked up my 392 in May this year. Ended up with 10% under MSRP so I just could not pass it up. The raptor is currently on chip hold from a blend date of 8/5 so who knows if and when it will ever show up, as people have had equally long chip holds that rival their time to get a VIN and scheduled for production.

For now, the 392 market is cooling down but they still seem to retain their value very well. At this point many dealers are offering a percentage off MSRP or Invoice if you order but like everything else the price has gone up since I placed my order.

I think I may try and keep it as the wife loves the 392 but we are undecided until the Raptor shows up and we give it whirl.
