Has anyone installed the RPG half tie rod kit on their raptor? gen 3 or previous. I’m debating installing my kit tomorrow, but wondering if I should I wait until the day I install 37s/get an alignment first. I’ve heard contradicting arguments

You will want an alignment after installing the tie rod ends. If the tread wear on your current tires are even it shouldn't change much with the new tires. Either way you should be ok.

Depends on if you want an alignment done twice. I wouldn’t run around after swapping tie rod ends without an alignment.

I'm going through a Gen 1 and the RPG Tie Rod set is part of the upgrades. Obviously, I haven't driven it yet, but I've got to say that they're a great company to deal with in my experience.

Any reason you went with the half kit and not the whole kit? I’m looking to upgrade my rods as well. I’m not well versed in tie rods, so I was curious what the difference is….

The half kit would just be a fashion piece… it wouldn’t make the tie rod as a whole stronger as it would still be utilizing the inner portion. If you’re wanting function, get the file tie rod kit. Then the whole tie rod would be much stronger and robust.

Maybe on the Gen 1, but definitely just stick with the outters on Gen 2 (and probably Gen 3). Once you break the seal on the electric power steering racks, you are bound to have problems.

Yep, then whole reason the 1/2 rod exists is because the electric steering racks have proven not to be as tolerant of water as the older hydraulic units

Also, as far as strength issues go, there is always a weak link. Strengthen the tie rods and the rack becomes the weak link. Tie rods a couple hundred dollars, power steering rack is around $2500 dollars.

I have been told that the half tie rod kit doesn't affect warranty whereas the whole kit can. I am trying to keep some form of warranty since its still a relatively new truck. RPG has stated that this is the case on the bronco's, so it makes sense that it would be the same case for the Gen 3's.
