Ford ESP - Post your real world experiences

Looking to collect some real world experiences with Ford's extended service plans. The most popular ones are probably BaseCare, ExtraCare, PremiumCare and for comparison sake, we can include the original factory warranty in there too. Doesn't hurt to have more data/reference points for future use.

If you have had your truck in for warranty work under one of the warranty plans, post up what was covered for your plan and/or what was denied.


I personally have the PremiumCare and still under factory warranty, but I haven't had to get any warranty work done yet, so I don't have any personal experience to add in yet.

Never Leave Home w/o the Premium Care on Every one of my Fords.
Hell back in 08? When Dodge was collapsing and selling their crap 1/2price, I bought my daughter a Charger and immediately took it to my Ford Dealership and bought a Premium ESP for it ;) (Not many folks know you can do that)
2-Transmissions replaced in my Excursion, seat heaters, shocks, window motors, etc.
The best story I have for the ESP, servicing your Ford at the Dealership and keeping it stock if you have an ESP was my sons 2010 Mustang.
He took it in to “Slow Lube” lol, for a 5k interval service. Kid topping off the coolant saw a “White Milky Substance”. At first I thought it was his ice cream sandwich, but it turned out to be oil, mixing with the coolant!! CRACKED MFING BLOCK!?!?
Eric submitted it to Ford ESP. ( Stang had 80k miles at the time)
First thing ESP did was ask for the entire service records of the vehicle, which was done with one press of the button. Stang had been serviced at the Dealership every 5k since it’s birth. Next was they wanted pictures of the ENTIRE Engine, looking for any mods, headers etc. Anything that would have caused it to run hot.
No mods to engine ever ;)
Took them 2 weeks to approve the repair. Gave me a loaner for the entire time. Turned out to be like a 10k repair!!
Like I said never leave home without one ;)

I love Ford Protect plans. I have never gotten a vehicle without it. My Raptor has PremiumCare, Maintenence plan, and TripleCare. Whenever I go to a dealer, even when it doesn't need one, I get an oil change on Ford with no questions asked. Love it. Have nothing bad to say!

Hi all - apologies in advance if this question is answered somewhere. I searched the threads (there are many) on the Ford ESP's.

My question is simple:

- Is there anywhere that documents what the Ford ESP (minus the maintenance plans and wear/tear) covers the the factory 3 year/36k doesn't?

I am about to roll 10,000 miles on my GEN3. AM thinking of buying one but if the coverage is negligible compared to the factory warranty I wont. Reason being is i rarely keep my trucks beyond the factory warranty.

It covers the same as the factory 3/36 for the most part depending on what plan you pick. It just extends it to a certain milage or time after your factory 3/36 expires. Another thing to think about is the powertrain warranty from the factory is 5/60. So in that case you are covered for 5 yrs/60k on the motor and trans from the factory, before any ESP will kick in depending on plan.

So depending on when you get rid of your vehicle, it may not be worth getting an ESP.

Thanks @WireNutz - that's what I was able to interpret based on the various info out there as well.

Do you know when they hit you with the extra fee upon purchase if I were to commit to keeping over the 36k?

I thought i also ready if car is over a year old/12k miles, you pay a one-time fee ($250 or something?)

Its the best in the industry ( as far as american cars go) because
Of the app that goes with it. No dicking around with documents. Service manager cant **** with you because all the data is linked to the vin and on yr phone.
