How to get more turbo sound

See thats problem. I don't want to change anything on my truck that alters the sound just the turbo sound. Nex said that a cold air intake would allow more spooling to be more audible so I am going to check that out.

@BoostCreep and I said the same thing.

You need an intake with an open air box, which I wouldn’t really suggest if you off road a lot in dusty environments. The AMS boost tubes may help too, but I don’t have first hand experience with them.

There is a video on YouTube of a blue fx4 that ran aftermarket down pipes and stock everything else. Whistled more, but tone of the exhaust was “basically” the same. Not sure if that helps on the raptor 3.5 but it did on the gen 1 eco.

You need to eliminate restrictions and open up the path to either the compressor inlet or the turbine of the turbo. That means an intake and/or inlet tubes on the inlet side, or the exhaust on the turbine side.

If you deleted the resonator and the cats, and used a straight through muffler I guarantee you’d hear a lot more turbo sound, but the truck would be pretty damn loud too. That’s why if all you want is more turbo/spool sound you need to open up the inlet side.

Start with an intake where the air filter isn’t in a box. Fine for the street, but I’d prefer a closed box design for off roading in the dust to help keep the dirt from the front tire out of the filter.

On my 2015 Lariat 3.5 Eco and current 2019 Raptor, I put a drop in AFE replacement air filter then removed the 2 plastic air silencer things in the intake tube. This combo gave more turbo spool whistle sound when the windows are down.

If I am correct? Those aren't turbo silencers that I believe you are talking about. Those little plastic things actually help with the inlet turbo side to get better air or something. I am not 100% sure that is just what I've been reading. Maybe @FordTechOne can confirm this.

He’s talking about the turbo silencers. They basically look like little fans in each of the inlet pipes from your air intake and they pull right out. That gives you more of the whine/air noise. That coupled with a larger aftermarket intake will achieve what you’re looking for.

Once you vent to atmosphere with your BOV if you want to enhance that sound a Boomba adapter will do the trick. I have one on my setup which is the largest of the AFE intakes, removed turbo silencers, SVC IC, Boomba adapter w/ factory BOV, and the sport 93 Cobb tune.
