Ordered in October, picked up this week.

I asked about the price protection and they said I didn’t have to worry about anything.

They sent me the paper work and it was missing my deposit and discount for the blue cruise. I told them about it and it was fixed in 5 minutes. Zero hassle.

Thanks for everyone who’s been posting this info
The hassle was them trying to pull a fast one and not add in your deposit and blue cruise discount.

Does the dealer get a refund of the price protection, or does the price protection need to be applied at the time of purchase as an honor system by the dealer? My dealer is saying pay the Window sticker MSRP amount, and they will get me any refund that Ford sends them 45 days after purchase.

Yup, that's the same situation I am in right now. I find out by the end of this week (45 days) how much money I am supposed to get back. He's been prepping me with sometimes "Ford denies the price protection and there is nothing he can do."

I'll update my other post and let everyone know if I see the cash or not. I'm certainly not holding my breath on this one.

Im in the same boat, original special order in Oct, I paid $1500 over the price protected amount. The Ford executive team followed up with me and said the dealers know they will be re-invoiced from Ford 30-45 days and Ford will cut check to dealer and dealer to give to buyer. If they do not, they will lose allocations not just of raptor but other vehicles. Ask them to check with the Zone rep

I went in and had "the talk" with my dealer well ahead of time. I have an MSRP deal with zero ADM. My dealer made it clear that they will never charge an ADM to anyone. They've been great and have no issue with me paying the reduced amount at the time I pick my truck up.
Something I also noticed is that Ford increase shipping from my original order from $1695 to $1795.

The numbers get confusing unless you keep it simple.
This is how my dealership determined my MSRP price

$78,845 Original MSRP on 11/01/21
- 1,395 blue cruise delete
$77,450 price my dealership agrees that I pay upon delivery. (plus Tags, taxes and the usual fees) They've reserved a 1.75 APR loan for me.

I'm not trying to be a braggart here guys, just trying to show you how simple this can be for a dealership. Numbers are their game. They're either honest, or not.

That is the process now. When I picked my truck up I was sitting there chatting with the gm and we were talking about price protection. He showed me a memo that was sent to him from ford about how to handle price protection and this is the right process.

He said they have to sell the vehicle at the printed Msrp on the window sticker, dealer then submits the original order price alongside paid price, ford cuts the dealer a check which they then will cut to you.

In my case, the dealer was not very familiar with the price protection process and was not comfortable giving me the original sticker price at time of delivery (they could not figure out what the price protection price should even be, and did not agree with me that it was $4180 less than the new sticker - the reduction in 801A price definitely causes confusion I think). I took delivery April 29. On June 6, my salesman let me know that Ford had reimbursed them the $4180. Shortly thereafter, I got a check from the dealer in the mail for $4180 + tax.

This really comes down to how much you trust the dealer. Ford reinvoices the dealer for the amount based on the price when you ordered. Ford does not directly reimburse the customer. So if you are going to pay the new sticker price then get a "we owe" from the dealer for price protection so you at least have some documentation of them acknowledging that they will give you the money when they get it themselves.

Ultimately, if the dealer wants to make extra money on you, they will refuse to sell at lower than the new MSRP, and then probably claim they never were reimbursed by Ford so they can't reimburse you.

Best way to do it is to pay original agreed upon price, but there are other ways to do it.
