You got me there. I am in the rust belt too but not up north where you are. I did use PB Blaster before I started and let it soak for about an hour. Plus my 2020 only has 14k miles so I know that makes a difference. I laid on my back, holding the resonator and used both feet to push on the muffler (kick it a few times too) while I wiggled the resonator section loose. Removing that hanger really helps on the wiggling.
Got the front end of the resonator loose. Got one clamp to break free between the muffler and resonator. The clamp with two bolts though wouldn’t budge. Let it soak again and try later. Even hitting it with the torch wouldn’t free it up.

I had to dremel one of the clamps off when it wouldn’t loosen after soaking it in PB blaster.

I’ve out about 1,500 miles on my trombone, paired to the AWE 2FG. The 2k rpm drone is starting to get to me so I’m looking to remove the 2FG and install a small muffler (maybe half the size of the factory suitcase) so if you guys have any suggestions, please let me know.

I think it would probably sound great with the Magnaflow d fit muffler, and would bolt right up. Would also probably sound great with the Corsa sport muffler.

I just ordered the Magnaflow D Fit muffler. I’ll do a before/after comparison video to show the Trombone exhaust with both the 2FG and Magnaflow setup.

Would really like to hear from someone who has tried the trombone with the Corsa muffler. Is the drone tolerable?

I'm waiting on my SPD midpipe to get here and as soon as I do I'm going to try two different combinations:

#1 - Stainless works catted downpipes, SPD midpipe, Stainless Works dump style muffler
#2 SW catted downpipes, SPD midpipe, OEM muffler with turndown tips right out of the muffler

Should have the midpipe end of the month. SW downpipes and dump style exhaust are already installed. It's drone-y at 2100-2600 RPM a bit more than my liking so I'm looking for the right combination of parts.

That has been my challenge with the SPD catted downpipes and the equal length resonator delete with an OEM muffler. Lots of drone in this RPM range, particularly when towing. Sounds great at high RPM / hard acceleration. Seems like a difficult engine to get to shut up when you don’t want to hear it.

I'll be curious to see. Everyone has a different idea of what's tolerable and what's not. I don't do much towing so I'm not too worried about that. The Stainless Works downpipe-back system already deletes the resonator so I can't imagine the equal length pipe will make it any louder. I'm mostly just looking to play with the tone. If I could get this truck to sound as close to the Ford GT as I could, I'd be perfectly happy with that.

My GLC63 sounds great at open throttle, and there is no drone. I just don’t understand why that isn’t achievable here.
