After studying their drawing, I gotta say thats not an easy bolt on. How do you drill that top bolt hole? Will a cutoff wheel or grinder fit in there? Can you manuever a mig torch around there? Considering that you have to do all that prep, then drilling or welding twice, in a small area, I'd probably beg a neighbor to help me remove the bed. That way, I can also clean & recoat the frame and check everything for rust.

Still waiting on a new Deaver pack.... and my original shocks just got rebuilt. Also waiting for the shop to finish setting up the new Torsen diff in the front housing..... and waiting for the 18mm offset racheting wrench I ordered to make it easier to install the top bolt to the frame. And on the rare torx T35 bit you need to dismantle the front bumper, so I can press out the dents & repaint it.

Installed a set of these with a friend last week and KHC omitted the top hole. A combination of a sawzall and 4.5" grinder made quick work of getting the old mount off. A 90* drill made the drilling too easy and they are on without much drama.

Pictures or it didn't happen. BTW, how many hours (for both sides) from when you removed the old shocks to when the fresh paint was dry enough to hang the new shocks?

I, personally, could do all the mechanical work in an hour per side. Paint drying times would have a lot of variables. We did his over the course of two days after we got off work.

I would start early on a Saturday or Sunday to where i could get the paint (I pretty much only use Steel It) on both sides by lunch then i would button it up that evening or the next day after i know the paint has had a chance to dry and start to cure. Not a care to most people though.

I guess the 90° drill attachment is key. Thanks for the tip. Is the weld-on version the same as the bolt- on one? Do you use the holes meant for bolts to do rosette welds?

I talked to SVC and icon. They both said the stock gen 2’s are designed to be maxed and hold
The weight of the axle. I got to say the SVC guys know their stuff
It will hold the weight of the axle but the problem being is the inertia and force of the axles downtravel with the truck in the air is way more than just the weight of the axle. They know what they are talking about but ask them if they are willing to warranty the shocks for free if you take their advise of not limiting it, my guess their answer would be no. Always better safe than sorry limit straps aren't that much
