Folks I have found a dealer outside of California that has an allocation for a 35. What do I need and have to do to register it in California. I currently have an order with a California dealer but he doesn’t have allocation yet so I like to jump on this but I’m a little concerned regarding possible issues with Cali registration. Your input is greatly appreciated.

All you have to do is register it in California and have the Billis sale and pay to get the vehicle weighed that’s it that’s what I’m gonna do.

I read some place that in addition to the 50 state emission certification that shows up in the window sticker, you need another emission related sticker Under the hood! Also I read that you don’t need to weigh it but you need to smog it before going yo dmv.

You need to smog it and do a VIN inspection at the DMV. Have good comms with how the dealer handles your reg paperwork.

Do they send direct to the DMV? If so, tell them which one you want it sent to. If they use a 3rd party (which is usually very helpful) get that 3rd party's company name, point of contact, phone number and email addy.

Your welcome;)

Thanks for your response. The salesman didn’t mention anything like that. Basically he said that once I pick it up it’s up to me to do all the dmv stuff. This is small dealer in a small town

Tell your salesman you'd like to ask the sales manager or ask their title clerk. Ask the specific questions I gave you earlier. Don't finalize the deal until you have all your question's answered.

Also let them know this info will help you give them all perfects on their survey.

Any Cali guys out there that have actually registered their out of state Raptor? Please advise how hard or easy the process was and steps involved
This dealer has 21 LF 801a on the lot at 5k adm. I’m not interested in a 21 but can provide dealer info if anyone is interested

I’d appreciate hearing from others as well. Fwiw, I found this this summary about the registration process on the dmv website.

I bought a new Gen 2 in Texas at the end of 2017 and brought it back to CA. The process is easy but you have to do a few things before you head to the DMV, as mentioned above by others. You will need to weight and smog the truck. The dealer mailed the paperwork to the DMV location of my choice. At the DMV they will ask to see the emissions sticker (located under the hood), smog certificate, weight certificate and pay any additional fees. Around the time I was purchasing the truck, I had read that the window sticker must state CA emissions included, that was not true. Hope that helps.
