Hey guys,

Planning on buying a travel trailer and I'm a total newbie when it comes to towing something that big and heavy. I'm wondering if any of you more experienced towers can let me know if what i'm thinking is correct. I looked up in the 2022 Ford towing guide and if I'm reading this document correctly, 8,200 lbs is the max weight of a trailer my Gen3 raptor can tow. I'll be using an "equalizer" hitch (sway control and weight distribution). The trailer I'm looking to buy weighs about 6k lbs dry. Sounds like as long as my truck or the trailer is not loaded down too much this should not be a problem. Anyone able to confirm if I'm on the right track here?

If you plan to tow a trailer thats 6,000lbs dry, then the raptor is not your vehicle

I just picked up my new boat and it toes done. Squats a little but I bet if I had an equalizer hitch, it wouldn’t. Power and braking is there, tow mirrors would be nice.
Hmm. Is your truck leveled or stock? I’d imagine leveled the squat would be worse, I want to level mine but I want to tow my boat with some comfort and minimal squat.

Here we go..everyone is going to say buy an F250, I have a 22 on order and tow a 27' enclosed inline with my 2015 platinum, kind of concerned as well as it is aluminum and cannot do a WDH with it, some say yes no problem and some say no way...just doesn't make sense for me to have a 250 as a daily driver when I tow mostly in winter snowmobiling.

Don’t listen to most of these guys. With a WDH @6k dry you will be fine. Raptor tows great and super dootys are great too but they’re boring as hell and ride like dump trucks imo.

I owned an 18 F250 screw 4x4 diesel for a year or two and can confirm they ride like dump trucks. Always wanted one, but not fun to drive. Only way I would get one now is if I needed to pull heavy 50% of my driving.
