Kindof similar to me…I paid $10k over for a truck optioned how I wanted it and already on the showroom at a dealer. Just chalked it up to supply and demand and a premium I can afford. Don’t really understand the folks that are making out paying an ADM to be some kind of moral issue. It’s just supply and demand. We’ll see how it plays out long term for the dealers that do it - my guess is that eventually the direct to consumer model will take over and Ford will just increase MSRPs more dramatically.

I’ve also benefitted on 2 other vehicles in the current market as well (trading my F150 and about $20k or appreciation on my 2020 GT350R so I still feel “net ahead”. Not a whole lot of complaining going on from everyone getting top dollar on their trades and private sales…
I think why ppl have moral issues for ppl paying over sticker is because a lot ppl bought their trucks early in 2021 and did not have to pay adm. Ppl who ordered in sept to current time…a lot of dealerships are putting adm because of supply and demand. I mean if you want it…buy it! Don’t want to pay adm…don’t buy it. Simple as that.

I made many calls to find a truck in California at msrp with no luck at all. I did found two trucks one in Alabama and one in Louisiana at msrp and neither had the color or options that I wanted. I ended up making a deal with a local dealer at 5k adm. it would have cost me at least 2k to bring a east coast coast truck back here and the headache of dealing with Cali dmv so it made sense to me to pay 5k over. Every situation is different. If you got it at msrp good for you.

I’m surprised you’re on here admitting that you spent that much over MSRP. I don’t know how or if you earn your money but anyway you put it that’s not a smart transaction. Especially well it’s well known you can get them for MSRP at other dealers.

Hate to say it you ruin it for everyone. I get you are rich but it's just some things that don't make it better for society.
I am neither rich nor am I flaunting anything; I’m simply answering the question that was posed as to what I paid. My mother passed away on 12/27 after a 10 year battle with Stage 4 breast cancer. Her planning and preparedness has put me in a unique financial situation, like I mentioned. Her mentality was that if you want something and can make it happen financially without risking other financial areas of your life, then go for it. I’ve used my inheritance to pay off the remaining $6k of student loans, and so my family is debt free (other than our house) and I’ll pay cash for my Raptor. id much rather have my mom back versus paying way over market value in cash for a depreciating asset.

I think people are just upset at the market, pandemic, and current state of the world. I get it. However, I’ve come into a chunk of money that affords me the “luxury” to buy something I want, with the options I want. If it weren’t for that, there’s no way I’d afford what I’m doing.

So you didn’t earn it and made a financial decision that would not make your mom proud. Sounds about right.

It comes down to what is your time worth and/vs the principal of not paying over msrp.

I called probably 200+ dealers. I would say the time I put in calling would have been about equivalent to me working that many more hours at work and paying an adm. However, I don’t like the principal and president it sets paying over msrp.

Moving forward I plan to return to this dealer for future purchases.

His mother would probably be very proud to see the smile on his face as he takes her grandkids around doing Raptor things. He is going to have $75,000 worth of assets in his garage thanks to her and her planning. It's not like it's going to be worth nothing.

That’s exactly right, I didn’t earn it. My mom worked her *** off as a single parent for 35 years and endured 10 years of breast cancer so I could enjoy my inheritance. Maybe your reading comprehension is low but she said “if you can make it happen without risking other areas of life”….I’m debt free except my house. Im not sure what your financial situation is, and quite frankly I don’t care, but I don’t have much risk…which is why I don’t mind paying what I’m paying IN CASH for something I want and my mom would love to see me enjoy. If you can’t understand that, like others clearly can, then you sir are the problem…not everyone else. You do realize that if I didn’t buy the truck at that cost, there’s a line a mile long of others who will.

$75 that he paid $100k to own. Believe me if his mom busted her behind to save for future generations she’s not dancing around the heavens because her son bought a pickup truck for $20k more than its asking price with her money.
