Hi all!

Just got back from my first camping trip with the Raptor (2020 Crew Cab), and for some reason the keyless entry and lock functions (touching the door handle on the outside or inside) have stopped working. We spent a fair bit of time going in and out of the car at the start setting up tents and so on, and towards the end of that session it refused to open any longer, and now it refuses to lock as well. Seems like it just doesn't sense my hand on the door handle at all. Push button start still works fine, remote start works fine, remote lock/unlock using the buttons on the keyfob works fine. Only thing that doesn't work is the door handle sensor.

Note - it was -10 c (14 F) and snowing, the truck is covered in snow and dirt, but I'm guessing that shouldn't really make a difference?

Camping picture for good measure ;)

What were you using to heat your tent?
Alcohol, mainly ;) For the sleep system we used a foam insulation pad (the solid stuff used for hiking), an Exped Megamat Duo, a wool blanket, a sleeping bag each, rated to -9c comfort temp, and a double duvet on top. We kept surprisingly warm and toasty even without any heating, but we built up a fair bit of moisture inside the tent so it would not have worked for a two day trip as the duvet was fairly damp on top.

I only ask because I use to use an infared propane heater to heat the tent and dry gloves, hats, etc, but then turned it off when we crawled into bed. Didn't know if you had something similar, alcohol sounds good though, ha ha.

I think I would look into a heated blanket or similar to run off a Goal Zero / Jackery battery if we end up doing more winter camping. Planning on building an overlanding "insert" for the truck bed next year, basically a frame of 80/20 aluminium profiles that goes in the bed and contains a couple of big drawers with storage and a camp kitchen, + a roof top tent mounted on top of it. Will just lift it onto the truck using pallet forks on the tractor when we are heading off for a trip, and store it in the garage when not needed. Saves me driving around with a roof top tent on all the time :)

I do need to get the keyless door locks working again first though, surprising how quickly you get used to these comfort features!

a quick test: start / warm the truck for a few minutes and do some stop and go driving, while monitoring the auto-stop/start system. I’ll bet it says ‘off due to charging’.

RKE will stop functioning when the battery needs charging, by the truck’s definition of ‘needs charging’ which I believe is through the battery management system.

You might be on to something there actually. The truck has a lot of exterior lights that remain on for quite some time after opening the doors. We had most of our camp setup in the rear as I haven't got a bed cover for it yet, which meant going in and out of the truck a LOT before we had everything set up. I'll check the voltage in the morning and see what it looks like

The RKE not working has been reported here before, and, after being reported I replicated while
1) washing and waxing the truck
2) playing tunes loud enough to hear through closed windows
2a) I have 500w sub and 75x4 channel main amp.

I noticed about 3/4 way through the wash, the doors stopped unlocking when I sprayed with water. 1st drive afterwards, I thought I’d finally defeated the auto-stop/start but alas... it was only an extended charging time.

Dang. Here I was hoping that a firmware upgrade had fixed the theft problem. I guess it would be premature to throw away those Faraday cages. I'm glad I can keep my key for a few more years...

So, not sure what the issue is here. Battery is charging at 14 volts, was at 13.4 when I switched the engine off, which I suspect should be more than enough? Start/Stop doesn't work, but then again at -11c (12 Fahrenheit) I wouldn't expect it to. Remote start works too.

On a separate issue, I can't find a carwash wide enough for the Raptor to fit in, and I can't clean it outside in this weather  But that is a whole different challenge. This truck really is enormous compared to everything else on the road here in Norway.
