Need some help on what to expect after giving a deposit on a 22 build. Do I sit back and just let the dealer contact me or does Ford get back to me? I understand that it can take up to 6 months or more but do I at least get some verification in between that it’s getting built , so they give you a Vin number in between or some kind of paperwork. Thanks guys.

Depends on your sales person.

If you have the order sheet, that will have the dealer ID and order number. In a month or so, use that to contact Ford Performance, see if you have a build week scheduled. Once scheduled, you will be able to get a VIN from your dealer. Only your dealer can give you the VIN.

Then, you wait. Also, don't get too excited about your build week, it's likely going to change. Next, don't get too excited when the truck goes into production, it may sit there for months...ask me how I know.

If your truck is a retail order, you will likely get emails from Ford. If you claimed a dealer stock order, you will not get anything.

Your best course of action is to forget that you ordered a truck and be surprised when it comes in. If you try tracking the progress and ride the roller coaster of the changing schedules and delays, you're going to be less happy. If you do decide to try to keep up to date with everything, you can then join us other idiots who have done the same and join in to our misery. Some claim that there is happiness to be found at the end of the misery, but I am doubtful.

To put things in perspective, orders in June for MY21s are still waiting.

I'd say be prepared to wait a year.

But everyones else is right - No VIN = no car. Once you get that information then the real waiting begins. And tbh blend date, build date, any other date they give you means nothing at this point.

Most of the above is right on. I ordered June 5, 2021, Build/Blend Oct 5, 2021 and STILL waiting. Dealer informed be a couple days ago that the truck was now "offsite" and his interpretation of that was that the truck had been "chipped" (hopefully... finally) and was sent to get sprayed bedliner installed. He said that can take 2 to 4 weeks.. And still this is all guessing.. I am hoping for possession of the 21 Raptor in Jan 2022, but no guarantee, just guessing. Ford is no help in any of this so far. Build date means nothing.. nice that it is built. But likely to sit in the Ford overflow lot waiting for random parts for couple of months.
