Newbie question. I figure the start/stop was to be "eco friendly" or save gas, but really i don't it will matter much. I recall concerns like a decade or more ago when this feature started appearing in cars, about mechanical stress on the engine and drain on battery. I see pretty much everybody in forum here does not want it. Can someone give me more technical reasons as to con's of of this feature ? thx RW
Based on my experience as a Tech for Porsche when they introduced this feature I can tell you that most manufacturers will engineer these systems very similarly, That being said, Porsche's system had multiple parameters that had to be met before it would even allow this feature to work, it analyzed hvac usage, stereo energy consumption, ambient temp in and out of the vehicle, battery voltage and energy, if any one of these or other parameters were not met then the car stayed running. They over engineered many of the components that would see high duty cycles such as the starter for this function, and they had increased capacity batteries to handle the extra load cycles.

Honeybadger, that just conjured a super funny video from the past. Here's video for those that don't know what I'm referring to:

Coincidently, i had one of the first Macans, took delivery in 2014, on official 2015 car. It had button to turn auto start/stop, but i usually kept it off, just too many traffic lights in the city. IF Ford had to put that feature in for whatever reason, they should have done like Porsche, put in console button, instead of all workarounds or 3rd party stuff.

Same here. When my dealer told me my truck was delayed and I’m seeing other gen 3 raptors already on the road bc they order without the auto start/stop feature I flipped out but my vin was already established so they said I couldn’t change it. I hoping the dealer can remove it
Once it arrives. Anyone know if they can?

No, just buy an auto start/stop eliminator if you're that concerned

I simply hit the button when I get in the truck and it’s eliminated. Crazy isn’t it. If you do it every time you get in it’s not even something you think about. Hit the start button hit the other button boom!

Lol yea it's not big of a deal, also an easy fix. I tried to have it removed over the summer but wasn't able to. I also read that the auto start/stop in these trucks is actually quite good in comparison to other manufacturers. Or just forscan it off or spend a couple bucks for an eliminator
