There's an updated driveshaft, deaver springs and traction bars, oil pump gears if you can still get them (check with JDM, they use to sell them), should have your rear diff checked over at the same time, You want everything tight. Headers aren't required, just ask @MTF , but a nice open exhaust wouldn't hurt in my opinion, you want it to scream in the front and you want it to sound good in the rear too, but that's just me.

ps: sorry to hear about your brother as well.

Here's Biggest thread:

Once you start going past 750 HP at the crank you will have to build the block.
Stock pistons are the next weak point.

Headers:
While I run full stock exhaust, 561 rwhp is just about the limit for that setup.
You will need headers for going to 600rwhp.
Then headers plus cat delete, if you looking to get over 700 rwhp and beyond.

Driveshaft:
Driveshafts that JDM and KHC sells are from Axle Exhange.
I have a thread about them, https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/driveshaft-upgrading.34467/
You can buy directly from them. https://www.axle-exchange.com/ford_truck
And they have a nice Raptor themselves.

Oil Pump gears:
Once you reach my power level, billet oil pump gears are a must do.
They make the gears set for Livernois, JDM and others

RPG makes a really nice Traction Bar system, wish I had them over the Rogue Racing.

Throttle body:
You will need the Super Cobrajet oval TB

Injectors:
You'll need at least 100 Lbs.

You will need to upgrade the fuel pump and add a fuel pump booster unit.

You'll need the ATI 12% oversized harmonic balancer and pulley.
And the 8 rib serpentine system from livernois.

There's more to it but these are a few

I am about to acquire a 2014 6.2L Raptor. Stock for the most part. This was my brother's truck and he passed away VERY unexpectedly. One thing that he always wanted to do, was either put a Turbo kit on it or go Super Charged.

I looked into the Hellion twin turbo kit - Their production is on hold and will stay on hold until they have at least 10 customers interested. Then there is the UPP turbo kit.

From what I am gathering, the Whipple superchargers are the winner between them and Roush.

Off roading will be very limited. Very mild if any at all.

I was going to go with the twin turbo from hellion, upgraded injectors (95LB) JDM drive shaft and the traction control bars from JDM as well.

Now I'm in a boat with not knowing what direction to go.

With the whipple, is it limted to 700hp, or can it be bumped up considerably? My goal is to get to 800 rwhp. I know that I'll have to do some engine work to go much above the 550-600 rwhp mark and that is okay. Money is not an issue and I want to go over the top since this is a tribute to my brother.

Thank you in advance. All input, good and bad is welcomed.

Regards,

Brian Souders

Sorry to hear about your brother. I would avoid the turbo on this truck. I have a Stage II factory Roush setup with a slightly smaller blower pulley (72mm vs 75mm) and a tune from VMP.

The TVS2300 (Roush kit is based off of)can make 500+rwhp, but the Whipple will get there easier. If I was building a truck, I would go with the Whipple, assuming you like the sound of the compressor discharge whine. Roush blower is much more quiet.

Yes, there is a member (Biggest) on here that does but I don't think you want to know what it costs.
Livernois's best setup for 50K+ is peanuts to what he spent.
And let's not forget, tranny and rear all have to be built as well.

His very first Dyno run on pump gas he got 773 rwhp and 771 ft lbs. of torque!!!

Fordtechone thinks the 6.2 is a worthless boat anchor, especially when he compairs it to his beloved little 6 banger with little Ecoboost turbos.
It's all about money, always.

A year later, he finally got the 8 rib serpentine system and runs C30 race gas with 21 lbs. of boost he was up 900+ rwhp

To me, that's amazing for a little 2.9L compressor, I'm only doing 11 to 11.5 lbs. of boost.
How did I get dragged into this? What do you mean it’s “about money?” You make no sense.

I never said the 6.2 was worthless. It’s a base model work truck engine, and it satisfies that need well. It is not and was never designed to be used in a high performance application or to handle forced induction.

The fact that $50k is “peanuts” compared to what a forum member spent to get 773whp further proves my point. A stock 5.0 with a $8k supercharger kit puts out 750HP; RMB sells a built 3.5 short block for $6K that’s good for 1,000WHP.

The reality is that even with all the money you’ve dumped into your truck you’d still get smoked by a Gen 2 with nothing more than a tune.

If Ford would have invested better and/or more on building the 6.2, so aftermarkets could continue to development and improve it.
We wouldn't need to spent that kind of money!
Member Biggest wouldn't have had to pay $$$ for one off custom R&D crank and cams.
At least his engine is good for 1200HP last I heard from him years ago.

The 50K is not the right number, the complete engine is 19K, if you have Livernois do a complete install with the Whipple, I believe it's around 38K

You belittle the 6.2 numerous times on the forum or did you forget?

See, you're funny, you blast that the 750 HP 5.0 won't last in a Raptor and you're right.

And to date no Gen 2 can keep up!!!
So my investment of $11k installed on a 48K Gen 1 is worth it.

Why would they waste their time and money? Manufacturers don’t care about aftermarket modifications. The engine was designed for work/fleet use and what’s what it’s good for.

I call it for what it is. A reliable work/fleet engine. It’s not a high performance engine and was never intended to be.

Aren’t you on your second engine after the first one blew up from supercharging it?

As far a “700HP” supercharged 6.2 being faster than a tuned Gen 2, the results show otherwise:

Well if Ford would have designed the 6.2 for the Raptor as an HO engine and built it better to handle, let's say 700 to 800 HP.
Hell, I would have been happy with 600 HP

And not got so cheap with their crappy oil pump gears, I would not have had to buy another engine.

So trying to belittle me isn't going to work.

That video doesn't say what kind of kit or what tune it's running, it only say 700 HP 6.2
I highly doubt it's getting 561 rwhp, to me that Raptor sounds way off, probably a Hennessy. LOL

And secondly you don't power brake a Whipple, I've tried that and I lose a full second 0-60

I'll find the right video of a well tuned Whippled Raptor against a tune 3.5

Oh wait a minute, I just watched that video for a second time, it's a Roush and who knows if it's even getting 500 rwhp, probably an original stage 2 and Roush tune with 590 HP at the crank.

Yeah, that supercharged 6.2 had issues, i've seen that video a few times, that truck should never of been used in that video, a stock 6.2 would of beat that supercharged one, it was missing a couple spark plugs or something. That tuned raptor, though, man, it did kick ***.

I hate that this is a Hennessy but this is basically what I see (actually I do way better) when I run up against a Gen 2
That Hennessy truck only has the 5.0L
And I mean to date, I'm pretty sure if a Gen 2 with thousands of dollars of upgrades, would keep up with me or even be faster.
The HP and Torque numbers that you see for the 3.5L don't lie.
