So over the years, I have done some mods on vehicles that seem like a good idea at the time, but soon became big regrets.

Having said that, I've got the mod bug again for my Raptor. Being in Hot n Humid Florida, a Cobb or CVF FMIC seems like the next natural step.

Anyone have any bad experiences/regrets going to an aftermarket FMIC? I narrowed my search to those two, so I dont need to muck about with the shutters and grills

(secondary question, did you go with a different BOV, why or why not, and regrets?)

No regrets from me. Heat soak on the stock was ridiculous. I love seeing my intercooler through the grill as well.

It will help you keep more power on tap in the hot summer days. Once that intake charge temp climbs, your power goes down. These IC’s can still heat soak in the hottest of days. But they cool much faster when you get moving or nail it.

Which did you use. Will dealer install. Where are you located in Florida?

I’m in south FL. I went with the Injen factory location IC. At the time I was able to get it at a major discount. But I would put it on par with the CVF Titan in price and performance, construction quality. I have a couple of Raptor buds down here that have used the CVF and we all average the same cooling for the most part. I also removed the lower grill shutters, as you know we don’t get that much cold weather and constant airflow helps.

I installed mine myself. Pretty basic install if your handy like that. I would say this is an item you wouldn’t want to get installed at the dealer, unless your doing a stock replacement. Just make sure those hose clamps are rock solid tight when tightening things up. Too many people have tubes pop off because of this.

Stock BOV seems to work fine. If you want the sound of the air blowing off then this is for you. Or if you rather vent to the atmosphere then an aftermarket BOV is for you. Some have had problems with aftermarket BOV’s. But most work well. I would also say the more you mod the more you might be on your own regarding a warranty sitauation. But only you would know your dealer and if you even care to worry about that.

I've heard different answers on the following, but sounds like all of you may be able to answer: With exchanging the stock IC for an after-market IC, is there a requirement to reprogram/re-flash the ECU or can one continue with stock ECU programming?

I have the CVF and am very happy. You do have to pull the shroud from the IC shutters but the shutters stay. I really like the stock location. Intake temps are always consistent, I don’t remember the actual differential amt but it stays consistent and doesn’t heat soak.
No BOV for me, with a tune the stock is decently loud.
No regerts!

you can run stock programming for an IC alone
