GEN 2 Odd Cranking Cycle

I have a 2017 Gen 2 with 52k miles on it that I bought in July of this year. After a couple of weeks of driving it I noticed it has a strange cranking cycle. For example, in the mornings it will turnover perfect, when I leave to go on my lunch break from work it turns over perfect, but heading back to work from my house after spending 20-30 minutes there, it will have a start that will be sluggish and will just barley turnover Even more so, if you turn the truck off and run inside to grab something (5-10 minutes) and come back to crank the truck again, it will cycle (and crank) but go straight back dead, then you can immediately press the button to start it up and it cranks normally.

No check engine lights come on when this happens nor have I seen a check engine light since I got the truck. The engine has never had any loss of power or rpm spikes while I’ve driven it. I’ve also taken it to a local auto shop and they checked to see if it was showing any codes and no codes are being shown in the truck.

I’ve started doing some research on the MAF. Recently cleaned those sensors, bought an oil separator, even threw in a can of sea foam in the tank and had it serviced but nothing has made it any better.

It seems the longer the truck sits, the better crank it will have on the next start up. It will idle fine after any start up but it’s quite embarrassing to leave a gas station when you don’t know if it’s going to crank on the first start or not. I’m not sure what would be causing this and I haven’t found any explanation that has helped me find a solution.

There may be an easy fix to this that I’m not aware of or that I’m not wording properly but I came here to find out. I’m almost clueless where to go from here and any information will help!

Truck doesn’t have a MAF?

Put a new battery in if it makes you feel better.

As the others mentioned, these trucks don’t have a MAF; not sure what you cleaned.

So basically you’re saying it’s starting and stalling? If so, that’s not normal. You should still be under powertrain warranty with a 2017 model at 52k miles; I would advise bringing it to the dealer for diagnosis. If you can, demonstrate the issue for them so they know what they’re looking for.

Thanks I’ll more than likely do that. I assume I got the MAF mixed with something else. I’ll link the video I found and watched so you may be able to identify what these sensors are. What this guy explained in his video sounded like similar problems I was having but it hasn’t seemed to make a difference.

I thought all fuel injected engines either had maf sensors or speed density sensors to determine fuel input

Yes. Speed density uses a MAP sensor. Not the same as MAF. A pressure transducer doesn’t really need to be cleaned.

Right. At this point I'm wondering if map and maf were accidentally interchanged in this thread

How dare you assume the simple and cordial situation on the internet.

it still doesn’t need to be cleaned so the video is stupid even if the OP is not.
