That's f'd up right there. I've ordered graphics from a vendor on here and it came in a cardboard sleeve, top quality packaging.

That's what I was expecting! Everything I got from Rappy graphics was bomb proof when it came.

I’m always wary of counterfeit stuff from Amazon. I’ve had very good luck with orders but I’m selective not always based on price.

IMO, Amazon has way more third party sellers like a gypsy bazaar. Not really interested it that. Does Bezos really need our money?

Especially electronics, I will not buy any electronics from Amazon anymore unless I know for sure they are coming from a legit seller. You really have to watch the stuff on there, like it's eBay.

I have had quite a few orders in the last 3 months that said they shipped, then I get the email “order will be late, ask for a refund if it does not show up by xx date”. I have had to call them in order to receive my refund also.

I will wait til the middle of November, if nothing shows up I will phone them, is the number on their main order page or is it one of those hidden ones that you have to do backflips to find, lol.

My amazon experience has been long and mostly good. They did rook me for a hard drive, was defective when delivered, couldn’t get it to format -at all. Returned, got label, 3 weeks later, I had the money, figured everything was good, dumped the ups label and moved on with life. They didn’t. Literally, the next day they send a “we didn’t get your return” ... send it or pay up. Lesson learned to the tune of $89.50. Next time they pulled that ruse on me, I got CS on the phone, no easy task. <pro tip: don’t try this without a speaker phone> Instead of leading with my ups delivery status, I ask them the status. They indicate they haven’t received it. I ask for the ups tag #, they recite it, the numbers match.
“so you’re aware, I’m recording this call, name I’ve long since forgotten”. Looking at the UPS website and using their package tracking facility, I can see that the return was delivered to Amazon’s service center in ( I think it was Harrisburg? PA ) 3 days ago. I have pictures of the package and a receipt from UPS as well.”

pregnant pause. “let me check some things”. Me: “you do that”.

a few minutes later I got acknowledgment the package was received. Is there anything else I can help you with - “why yes, an email confirming you will not charge me for this.”

They agreed, and true to their word I got an amazon email indicating receipt of the package. However, what frosts me about this is the frequency with which it happened on my orders.

The 2nd “we didn’t get your return” was consecutive and not long after the hard drive. Now I’m not one to be a conspiracy theorist but that certainly is suspicious and inclines me to suspect they’re not randomly targeting users to do an initial denial of returns. This was a few years back... back when 1TB hard drives were $89.50, whenever that was. I haven’t forgotten.

I still buy from them but I don’t buy major things from them for a number of reasons, I’ve definitely gotten some items that did not meet the description. Most of which I’ve chalked up to I should’ve known better. As others have said, it’s like going to an out of town carnival and buying from their flea market hosted by Carnies. If you know what you’re looking for and buy from reputable sellers, that does help a bit.

I hate to say it but they’re catering successfully to the “gotta have it now” crowd and they’re doing it better than anyone else. I just tried ordering motor oil from the local Walmart and they advertised next day delivery. at checkout it was 7 days... weird... it’s in stock, but ok, I’m not in a hurry and I order. It arrives only 2 days later. not complaining about early deliveries but if Walmart is trying to cut into Amazon’s presence, they need to clean this up.

I've used Amazon maybe 3 times total, they keep harassing for me to go "prime" for fast delivery, etc. It's just a scam to me, the other couple of times, they said it would take 2 weeks and it showed up in less than a week, maybe I was lucky or its part of their marketing strategy and now Im getting screwed around. We will see if after I get this package (praying) that they start with more emails offering discounts on Prime or whatever it is to get packages quicker and safer.

Its not only Amazon, most all online/mail order is getting screwed up. FedX smart post is the dumbest delivery ******** up addresses and lost items. I ordered a small RubberMaid deck box from Home Depot and they shipped a 7' x 7' RubberMaid shed from the vendor via freight weighing 325 lbs. and put it in front of my garage door. After calling Home Depot stating I can't get my vehicle out of the garage and that they messed up the order all I got from them was we will contact the vendor. That was days ago and still no word.

People love to bitch about Amazon, but they've revolutionized shopping and have been responsible for the evolution of supply chain for many things. People have a short memory and don't recall having to research like hell the company they were buying from to make sure they were not only legit but wouldn't take a month to ship, try to make you pay for return shipping if they made a mistake, try to make you pay 15% 'restocking fee' if you returned something for any reason and so on. Vs a few mouse clicks and something shows up 2 days later, or sometimes even the next day.

I probably get more Amazon deliveries than most, with my wife in the Vine review program. (google it, but we basically get unlimited free stuff as long as we review it) During the pandemic there has definitely been some struggle with Prime delivery shipping taking a bit longer, sometimes some ordering issues, etc. This is to be expected, they are scrambling trying to keep up with a big uptick in shipping as people are staying home and ordering everything. They have a shortage of warehouse staff, drivers and other support staff and are trying to hire enough to keep up with demand. And keep in mind they're dealing with the shipping companies who are more often at fault then they themselves are.

Long story short for the OP, no this isn't normal pre-covid, and even a bit abnormal considering how things are now. I've found the best way to deal with things like this is the online chat support. Complain a little and they'll give you some free $$ to use later. Complain a little more (escalate) and they'll probably give you more. I do this EVERY TIME there is a delay and it pays for my yearly Prime membership and probably more. ;)
