I believe I read on this forum that the revised phasers were put into trucks after mid 2018 build date. There is still the possibility they can fail as a faulty revised part, but it should be the updated part number. Maybe @FordTechOne can confirm the month/year build dates that these parts went in to trucks?

EDIT: Looks like I answered my own question by looking a few pages back. See below:
Well this sucks, they revised the tsb to include 19’s and 20’s. What would have caused them to
include newer vehicles now?? Don’t they know when the updated parts were installed???

Since there have been some reports of the updated engineering level CC part (07/18 and later production) experiencing a similar issue, they updated the TSB to include those vehicles in order to standardize the labor time and parts list. Labor times are always lower in the TSB because it's a directed repair, no diagnosis is required and all parts are listed. The service part is still the CD level, as it has been since the original SSM was released on October of 2019.

Oh ok, i see. So would a 5/19 production vehicle have the “CD” phasers in it just like the currently built vehicles?

It will have the CC Engineering level part, same as my 05/19 build date Raptor. The CC level part is the "clean production" part with the tighter tolerances and revisions compared with previous versions, the CD Service level part incorporated a slight design change to ensure that any tolerances variations in future components don't result in a repeat of the original issue.

I see, thanks for the info. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that mine stay quiet. I don’t know if it helps at all but i prime my oiling system until it builds a couple psi of oil pressure before i let it start up when the engine has sat for a while and is cold. I figure if nothing else it’s good on everything in the motor to see oil pressure quickly on startup.
It might wear the starter and battery out quicker but they are easy to change out.

I do the same! '17, only about 23K on it but no phaser rattle so far. I figure with a starter designed for the thousands of starts when auto start-stop is functioning (and I've disabled mine in Forscan), a few seconds of continuous cranking can't be any harder on the starter and flex plate. May even be easier on them, since for the duration of cranking, the gear has engaged the flex plate only one time.

What's everyone's thoughts on the CC Engineering level part from 5/19? Are the parts beefier, hopefully? My regular F-150 is in for the moonroof stuck and for cam phasers. 31k miles on 2018.

Engineering CC level part was a revised version with tighter tolerances. If they are replacing your cam phasers you will receive the service level CD part number, which is a revised design to prevent a repeat of the original failure mode.

My 17 is at the dealer right now with the 4th cam phaser failure. Ford wanted to start going further with valvetrain diagnoses before I found the right guy at Ford to agree with putting in a new long block. I had 2 different dealers do the phaser replacement, the first one gave up after #2, the second dealer (Elder Ford in Romeo Michigan) really pulled for me and backed my request for a new engine after the last attempt at a repair. My only concern and reason for tagging @FordTechOne is how can I know the new Long block will be the new version or not?

Here is what she sounded like 3 days after getting back from the dealer in mid October.

Had my 2018 phasers replaced, noise came back before the 1st oil change interval. Engine runs rough sometimes now too. called a few dealers including the place that did the job. Nobody wants to work on it now.
