If the valve covers need to be replaced,is it’s pretty straightforward procedure? Is the oil consumption done by them or do I have to drive it and check the oil periodically?

Yes, there is nothing complicated about valve cover replacement. The procedure advises the customer to check the oil level every 200 miles once the dipstick has been marked. If a total of 1 quart is consumed within 3,000 miles, they will then replace the valve covers.

Thanks for all of the info.I just got off the phone with my dealer.I'm bringing it in on Tuesday. The service manager made it sound that if my trucks VIN falls in the ones that are under the TSB about the valve covers they are just going to go ahead and do the procedure. If not, they are going to do an oil consumption test. Will Ford allow the valve cover replacement without doing the oil consumption test?

Hi, guys ! I have a 2019 raptor with oil consumption problems. This is the second time I have take it to the dealer. It’s been now for 1 month there. No idea what’s creating the problem that’s their response, still checking with Ford. Any help ?
I have a 2010 raptor also that was using oil I switch to 10w 30 and it has basically stopped using oil.

They aren’t supposed to, but that doesn’t mean they won’t pencil whip some results and replace the valve covers without doing the test.

But, if this guy has a new truck and his dipstick reading is below the minimum oil line in less than 5k miles from new, obviously something is wrong. They should just go ahead and do the TSB and save everyone more hassle.

I brought my truck into the dealer. They said the oil consumption test needs to be done. They said they have to change the oil and filter to do it.They said I have to pay for the oil change and I replied absolutely not.My vehicle was built in the time frame when there's a TSB about oil usage.Either the dealer or Ford is paying for this oil change. They said there's no charge for the oil and filter.

They’re trying to scam you. The TSB pays them to change the oil, here is the labor op verbatim:

2018-2020 F-150 SVT Raptor 3.5L EcoBoost High-Output Engine: Visual Inspection For Oil Leaks, Reprogram The PCM, Change The Engine Oil And Filter, And Mark The Oil Level Stick Following The Service Procedure Includes Time To Check And Record Engine Oil Level On Return Visits (Do Not Use With Any Labor Operations Outside Of This Article) 202294E 1.1 Hrs.
