Excuse me for the long write up. I bought this 2012 Raptor about 6 months ago. It had 70k miles when I bought it, and now it has about 74k miles. Great truck. But I am running into some issues.

Note: Since I first bought it, it always had the slightest of hint of shaking at low speeds/low RPM. I figured it needed a tuneup and didn't think of it much as my 2017 F150 3.6 v6, which I bought brand new actually does the same thing...

So in the past three weeks I've been running into an issue that maybe slowly getting worse:

Three weeks ago while refilling at the gas station, as I finished filling it up and turned on the truck, the truck started to hesitate pretty badly and was sputtering. So I gassed it pretty hard, drove it it around the block and the truck was able to situate itself and go back to normal. I had this issue before with other vehicles and figured it was probably due to a failing purge valve. Since then I've been using 93 Gasoline and have not had this issue.

Two weeks ago while going up my driveway which has a steep incline I stopped at the top as I forgot something I needed from the house, so I put it in reverse to go back down and the truck lost power, oil pressure light came on and the engine shut off. I checked the oil and it was full and clean and checked for leakage but couldn't find anything. Went back into the truck and it turned on with no problems and I could not replicate the problem. Doing some research I found that this particular scenario has happened to a few others with their Raptors (going up a steep hill and losing power/low oil pressure warning)

One week ago I was driving to the supermarket. As I got to the red light stop, the engine started to sputter and hesitate pretty rough. The traffic light turned green and as soon as I pulled into the parking lot and into the stall the truck shut off and low oil pressure came on. Shopped, came back to the truck, turned it on and it turned on with no problems and drove home fine.

Current week the truck has been behaving well with no shut offs. Although I do feel that the hesitations/shaking are much more frequent while cruising during low-mid speeds. I've been taking it over some steep hills while going very slow and it's been doing just fine see if I can get it to act up again but it's doing just fine. So I'm confused.

I will be replacing the spark plugs and all the coils as well as the purge valve. I feel like a misfire is eventually causing the low oil pressure engine shut off to go into effect. I read online that on the 6.2 v8 it takes very little for that mechanism to trigger a shut off and that's how they're designed.

Has anyone had some sort of similar problems to mine? I'm getting no check engine lights other than the Oxygen sensors that has been on since I bought it. Nothing for cylinder misfires but from past experiences, the engine is behaving as if something is misfiring.

Thank you for reading and appreciate any help or insight.

I hope the fuse box is not damaged. Here is a picture. Slotted in a new 20A fuse while I wait for the new fuse wiring to be shipped form Amazon.

Lol it didnt exist is because the fix has been done on this truck already. Gonna take a look at the plugs and coils...

Have you tried pulling codes? A misfire will be a KAM code and should show on a code reader. If you don't have a reader you can get most any parts store to pull codes for you. Torque app and ELM 327 module would allow you to see what is happening with the truck in real time.

If you have no codes report back. Replacing all 8 coils is a lot of money to throw at a problem that may or may not be related. Low RPM shaking could be a lean condition meaning air metering or fuel, a transmission problem or an ignition problem. A tune up isn't ever a bad idea but these trucks use 100,000 mile plugs and that should not be an issue yet. It would be worth checking the boots, but you really should have a misfire code before you start digging into the engine.

Appreciate the response. Yeah it's not giving me any codes at all for a misfire despite the symptoms being almost similar.

I just replaced the purge valve seeing that it had a TSB and the original stock one was still on. It did have a hard time starting up after a refuel a few weeks back. We'll see if it affects the low RPM/rough Idle.

In regards to the unmetered air I will be taking apart the intake and cleaning out the MAF today. Bought a cleaner for it.

I do have codes for bank 1 and bank 2 oxygen sensors in association with Cat converter. I wonder if that's playing a role?

Do you have any steps to check for fuel or transmission problems? I always felt the transmissions on the Gen 1 Raptor were pretty reliable and it currently shifts effortlessly and smoothly.

What are your O2 sensor codes? Bad O2 on one of these can certainly cause power and response issues. A lean hesitation feels a lot like a misfire.
