I replaced my Gen1 rack in the driveway a couple months ago. It isn't the smallest task. It wasn't a task I was willing to do twice, so I just replaced it instead of trying to repair it in case my repair didn't work. The core charge was over $200. If it is just the belt, maybe, but this Donut video scared me off on trying to rebuild the rack myself:

I'm guessing the Gen2 is easier without the hydraulics, but still. Having to put it all back together to test is a bitch.

And this is why if you are going to spend north of $60k and keep the truck, an extended warranty should be mandatory! I'm buying to longest with the most miles. I think 8/160. Even if $5000, thats $50/month to sleep at night! Money well spent.

8/150 I believe is the longest, I have 8/125

Happy to hear that your daughter is safe. She is very lucky!

I had a steering box lock up hard on my ‘74 Alfa. It is not a happy time when it locks.

I think Ford is going to cover a portion of the repair cost. They are going to work with the dealer next week and let me know what its going to cost me.

If you guys don't mind, send me the contact info for the ext warrenty you got, I would definitely consider it after having this many issues in the first 50k.

That's interesting, wonder how much of it they will cost, seems weird, either its covered or not. Hope they pay for most of it then.

Get the Ford ESP if your mileage qualifies. Flood Ford has good pricing. BroncoAZ just posted about even a better price that he was able to get. The post was from this last week.

I personally went with the 8/150 zero deductible.
